Camp Recky Overview

Through sport and recreation, campers will gain confidence in themselves while learning 21st century skills such as taking initiative, problem solving, and critical thinking. By attending Camp Recky our campers have the opportunity to be their true camp self! In a safe and inclusive environment, our campers will have the opportunity to make friends and form positive bonds at camp that will last a lifetime.

Job Duties:

  • Ability to work with children ages 6-13 years old.

  • Implement and actively oversee various program activities, including sports and games, aquatics, creative arts and more.

  • Lead a group of 8-10 campers in daily activities, including sports and games, creative arts, and transitions from one activity to another.

  • Work closely with camp program leaders and directors to come up with new ideas and solve behavior issues, bullying and other problems that arise.

  • Make connections with campers and develop meaningful relationships.

  • Work with other counselors to ensure a cohesive camping environment that serves all involved.

  • Eat lunch with campers and ensure that the eating area is clean and safe.

  • Show enthusiasm for camp and the various activities, so as to encourage campers to get involved in all camp activities.

  • Instruct campers on emergency procedures and ensure that in emergency situations procedures are followed correctly and all your campers are accounted for.

  • Sign campers in at the start of every day and sign them out at the end of the day, ensuring that the camper is picked up by the person that was named on the sign-in sheet.

  • Attend weekly all staff meetings.

  • Set a good example for campers and others including cleanliness, punctuality, sharing clean-up and chores, sportsmanship, and good manners.

  • HAVE FUN! It is CAMP

Required Skills

  • 1 year/summer of experience working with children in any capacity.

  • Ability to work as a team and to problem solve.

  • Ability to resolve conflict by open communication.

  • CPR and first aid Certification (employer provided)

Additional Information:

Additional Benefits

  • Free summer membership to Recreational Sports

  • Ability to utilize this position as an internship.

  • No nights or weekends

Pay Range

  • $14.50-$14.75

Hours of Camp Operation:

  • Monday through Friday
  • 8:00AM- 5:00PM
