THIS POSITION IS FOR HIDDEN FALLS CAMP IN BEDFORD, IN.
Complete oversight of the camp ministry including all business matters, marketing, staff management, rental and outside groups' use of the camp. Work with the Divisional Youth Secretary to ensure a successful summer ministry. Position is expected to comply with and meet The Salvation Army, Federal, State and Local policies and standards.
1.Create, revise, present and maintain camp goals and budget.2. Work with community businesses and groups to maintain good working relationships.3. Recommend and implement camp policies (personnel practices, risk management, etc.).4. Maintain manuals and develop new materials as needed for compliance with the American Camp Association, Christian Camp and Conference Center Association and the State of Indiana.5. Develop and implement a system for marketing of the camp in the off-season.6. Work with the Divisional Youth Department to ensure a positive summer ministry.7. Recruit, train and supervise staff to maintain the operation and activities of Camp (Administration, Maintenance/Housekeeping, Food Service).8. Monitor safety and all procedures as they pertain to the supervision of staff and campers.9. Develop routines, schedules, and procedures for all camp operations.10. Assign staff activities and responsibilities.11. Interact in American Camping Association and Christian Camp and Conference Center Association for networking, training and certification purposes. Attend, as assigned National CCCA conference.12. Direct and assist camp staff with their work and activities.13. Maintain confidentiality and comply with The Salvation Army Safe From Harm guidelines, acquire SFH Trainer certification.14. Lead and provide a Christ-centered atmosphere to develop good morale and well being among the staff. This includes, but is not limited to, such actions as: resolution of conflicts in a professional manner; courteous treatment of staff, visitors and campers respect of others' property and person; and professional and appropriate communication to and about co-workers and supervisors.
Bachelor's degree in a related area and four years of camp administration experience with one year supervisory experience. Combination of experience and training will be considered.
Must be a team player, a self-starter, able to handle several projects at the same time and perform well with minimum supervision. Must demonstrate ability to think independently and exercise sound judgment. Appropriate drivers licenses to drive a 12 passenger van in the state of Indiana and pass The Salvation Army MVR check.
Computer knowledge to function using Microsoft Word and Excel programs. Reside at housing provided on Camp grounds.
Capable of participating in camp activities. Must be able to perform the above essential duties.
Capable of performing in an office environment to include: using a computer, answering phones, etc. Some work will be outdoors and will be hot in the summer and cold in the winter.
