Overview
Y Summer Day Camps are full of learning, adventure, active play and friendship. Camp activities include swimming, science, Kona Ice, games, and craft projects. We take exciting field trips to the Zoo, Sporting KC, alpaca farm, Shatto Milk farm tour, bowling, indoor flying and many more fun destinations.
Camp Counselors actively supervise and engage in activities with the campers to provide a safe and positive camp experience.

Responsibilities
- Encourage physical, emotional and spiritual growth and positive character development in all campers.
- Guide groups and individual campers in participating successfully in camp activities.
- Carry out established roles for supervising the campers's health and enforcing Y safety regulations.
- Maintain positive relationships with campers, families and other associates.
- Develop group activity plans with campers as needed.
- Identify emergency situations then respond quickly and appropriately.
- Ensure the safety and well being of campers and provide instruction on emergency procedures.
Qualifications
Minimum:
- Minimum age of 16 years old.
- Currently enrolled in high school or has a GED or high school diploma.
- Ability to accept supervision and guidance.
- Ability to lead a group in an activity.
- Good character, integrity, and adaptability.
- Enthusiasm, sense of humor, patience and self-control.
Preferred:
- Minimum age of 18 years old with one year or more of college/higher education preferred
- Previous summer camp experience.
- CPR/First Aid/Lifeguard certification.
- Previous experience working with school age children (may include working as a babysitter, nanny or other childcare program).
