Job Title: Bayside Explorers Counselor
Department: Activities (Programming)
Basic Function: Promote and market the summer Children's program to all resort guest families to increase revenues and create a sense of personalized service. Create and implement new and improve existing programs, crafts, and activity ideas. Primary function is to challenge and educate children enrolled in the program in a safe, fun, and caring manner.
Work Performed:
Verify program registration forms each evening and every morning to see if there are any children registered for camp.
Camp Counselor should be available on property one hour before program begins to prepare parental release forms, charge slips, and activities prepared upon greeting children and parents. Order meals as necessary from proper outlets.
Complete other projects as assigned by Activities Coordinator or Director of Programming.
Upon completion of the program, Counselors are to clean all areas that were in use for that day with the exceptions of carpets.
Daily/Weekly monitor inventories of all crafts, food supplies and department forms required to run a profitable and efficient program.
Review daily occupancy reports and contact in-house guests with children to encourage them to enroll their children in the Bayside Explorers Program.
Send confirmation cards to the front desk on the morning of the guest's arrival who have prescheduled children enrolled in the Bayside Explorers Program.
Interact with parents and children in a positive, assuring, and professional manner that is representative of our children's program.
Must be well groomed and in a company issued uniform and always wears a name badge.
Must observe safety and respect for company and guest property and equipment.
Supervision Exercised: None
Supervision Received: Activities Coordinator, Programming Director.
Responsibility & Authority:
1.Possesses the ability to create, organize and supervise activities, arts, and crafts projects for children ages 4 -12.
2.Must be able to lead and supervise 1 - 4 children at one time.
3.When enrollment exceeds 4 children call in another counselor then 8, etc.
4.Promote and market the program to guests to ensure profitability.
5.Maintain proper inventories required to properly run the program, which would include crafts, food, and forms.
6.Prepare purchase requisition as needed, have Activities Coordinator signature and approval.
Minimum Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent. Child development, recreation or educational background preferred. Must have parenting/childcare or supervisory skills and posses the desire to work with children daily. Must be certified in CPR and First Aid for children and infants. Needs to be flexible and able to work on an on-call basis.

Ability to be Outdoors for Prolongs Periods of Time Throughout the Year
Must be able to Swim.
