Position Summary:

A Counselor is responsible for the supervision of campers, promoting and actively participating in all camp activities, providing a safe and fun learning environment, and serving as a positive role model for campers.

Counselors are employed at the following camps:

  • Day Camp: 1st - 4th grades

  • Senior Camp: 5th-12th grades

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Group supervision of campers with attention to: behavior and group management, health, safety, security, and personal and skill development

  • Promote and actively participate in all camper activities and projects

  • Work effectively with co-counselors and collaborate on daily responsibilities

  • Teach or assist with camp programs

  • Complete assigned paperwork

  • Serve as a positive role model to campers

  • Other responsibilities as assigned

  • Push/pull, lift and carry a minimum of thirty-five (35) pounds across campus

  • Work outside, upright and mobile for six (6) to eight (8) hours per day

  • Respond to emergency situations which may include running (up to 1 mile in some cases) and ascending stairs without undue exertion

  • Possess physical capacity to fulfill all essential job functions

  • Outstanding communication skills which include the ability to use clear, concise and grammatically correct written and oral language in all aspects of professional interaction with campers, their families, peers, leadership team and the larger community

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children

  • Previous camp experience preferred

  • Minimum of 17 years of age

  • High School graduate pursuing college degree preferred

Reporting Relationships:

  • Reports directly to and takes direction from Camp Director. May also take direction from and is overall accountable to the Site Director.

Join our mission-driven team at ESF Camps & Experiences for a fun and rewarding summer as a Camp Art Instructor! Position Summary: At ESF, our Instructors are referred to as Activity Specialists. Activity Specialists hours are from 8:00 am-3:45 pm; Monday Friday. Start and end times may vary depending on the location and camp. Activity Specialists also have the opportunity to work extended hours for additional income. Depending on the location, Activity Specialists work up to ten (10) consecutive weeks from mid-June through mid-August. Activity Specialists at Dream Camp at Trinity College work five (5) consecutive weeks from the end of June to the end of July. An Art Activity Specialist has the opportunity to teach any of the following programs: * Day Camp Art: Campers (ages 6-10) learn the elements of art and the principles of design while discovering Master and Contemporary Artist through classic art projects, keepsake crafts, and literature connections. Projects include tie-dye, clay creations, 3-dimensional crafts, painting, collage, and more. * Specialty Art Camps: Campers (ages 13-17) are immersed in a variety of subjects and principles within week-long art programs that include graphic design, photography, studio art, and more! Essential Job Responsibilities: * Group supervision of campers with attention to behavior and group management, health, safety, security, and personal and skill development * Implement ESF curriculum; bring lesson plans to life for campers through participation, support and guidance * Use effective classroom management skills to lead the activity and effectively create an inclusive and fun environment * Motivate campers by creating fun for them in your activity (i.e. songs, games, cheers, etc.) * Encourage creativity and critical thinking * Work effectively with fellow Activity Specialists and Counselors; collaborate on daily responsibilities * Complete assigned paperwork * Serve as a positive role model to campers * Push/pull, lift and carry a minimum of thirty-five (35) pounds across campus * Able to work outside, upright and mobile for six (6) to eight (8) hours per day * Respond to emergency situations which may include running (up to 1 mile in some cases) and ascending stairs without undue exertion * Possess physical capacity to fulfill all essential job functions * Outstanding communication skills which include the ability to use clear, concise and grammatically correct written and oral language in all aspects of professional interaction with campers, their families, peers, leadership team and the larger community * Other responsibilities as assigned Requirements: * Prior classroom teaching/field work experience or two (2) years of ESF experience * Art background preferred * Previous experience working with children * Previous experience working with inner-city youth preferred * Previous camp experience preferred * Teaching certification preferred * Minimum three (3) years of college completed Reporting Relationships: * Reports directly to and takes direction from the Camp Director.
