JOB SUMMARY

Summer Camp counselor/ Camp counselor are responsible for ensuring the safety of the children. Responsible for being courteous and exercising tact and diplomacy when dealing with the public. Must be familiar with approved methods of dealing with problem behaviors of young children. Responsible for asserting leadership abilities in the event of the Supervisor's absence. Responsible for maintaining cooperative and harmonious relationships with other counselors, showing professionalism, independence and willingness to learn on the job.

DAY-TO-DAY

  • Responsible for the safety of children and provide constant supervision; to include keeping children hydrated and sun-screened when outdoors.

  • Must be able to communicate with parents and inform them of any important information about their children. Always being courteous and exercise tact and diplomacy when dealing with the Members/Parents.

  • Accompany and supervise children while in lessons (golf, tennis, etc.).

  • Familiar with different childcare methods and understanding best way to solve any behavior issues.

ABOUT YOU

  • Must be able to lift children weighing 20 or more pounds.

  • Perform the duty of monitoring attendance and actively participating with children.

  • Must be minimum 17 yrs. of age.

  • Camp experience a plus.

  • Have a friendly, calm demeanor is preferred.

VIEW JOBS 1/5/2023 12:00:00 AM 2023-04-05T00:00 <p>SUMMARY</p><p>To provide education, career, and social guidance and counseling to all students; to assist students in achieving a smooth transition from childhood toward adulthood, and to provide students with opportunities for self-exploration and for development of skills needed in relating to mature adults.</p><p>ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:</p><ul><li><p>Plans, implements, and evaluates a comprehensive and balanced program of guidance, including individual and group counseling services.</p></li><li><p>Uses a planning process to define needs, priorities and program objectives.</p></li><li><p>Evaluates the effectiveness of individual activities and the overall program in meeting desired student outcomes.</p></li><li><p>Educates the school staff, parents and community about the guidance program through a public information program.</p></li><li><p>Teaches the school developmental guidance curriculum effectively.</p></li><li><p>Outlines, in writing, a campus guidance curriculum consistent with the district's guidance program plan and tailored to campus needs.</p></li><li><p>Assists teachers in the teaching of guidance related curriculum.</p></li><li><p>Consults with administrators and teachers regarding the teachers' areas of responsibility in teaching the developmental guidance curriculum.</p></li><li><p>Supports teachers in teaching &quot;essential knowledge and skills&quot; identified in the SBOE Rules for Curriculum which are guidance-related.</p></li><li><p>Guides and involves individuals and groups of students through the development of educational plans and career awareness.</p></li><li><p>Presents relevant information accurately and without bias.</p></li><li><p>Counsels individual students and small groups of students with presenting needs/concerns.</p></li><li><p>Uses accepted theories and techniques appropriate to school counseling.</p></li><li><p>Consults with parents, teachers, administrators, and other relevant individuals to enhance their work with students.</p></li><li><p>Coordinates with school and community personnel to bring together resources for students.</p></li><li><p>Maintains a communication system that effectively collects and disseminates student information to other professionals, as appropriate.</p></li><li><p>Develops and maintains positive working relationships with other school professionals and with representatives of community resources.</p></li><li><p>Uses an effective referral process for assisting students and others to use special programs and services.</p></li><li><p>Participates in supporting the school group standardized testing program on testing days.</p></li><li><p>Is knowledgeable in the principles of testing and measurement which underlie standardized testing program development.</p></li><li><p>Interprets test and other appraisal results to school personnel, to students and their parents, appropriately.</p></li><li><p>Applies correctly principles of test and measurement to tests and other appraisal results interpretation.</p></li><li><p>Uses other sources of student data as assessment tools for the purpose of educational planning.</p></li><li><p>Maintains the confidentiality of student assessment.</p></li><li><p>Ensures that the uses of student records are for the benefit of students and personnel working with those students.</p></li><li><p>Adheres to and observes ethical and legal standards of the Texas and the American School Counselor Association.</p></li><li><p>Actively maintain and update the SS/HS Data Base as outlined in the grants GPRA measures 5 and 6.</p></li><li><p>Adheres to professional district standards.</p></li><li><p>Pursues continuous professional growth and development.</p></li><li><p>Keeps abreast of current and innovative procedures and practices in the fields of guidance and counseling and in education.</p></li><li><p>Selects counselor interventions appropriate to students' issues and circumstances.</p></li><li><p>Creates an atmosphere in which confidence, understanding, and respect result in a helping relationship.</p></li><li><p>Maintains positive working relationships with other counselors.</p></li><li><p>Maintains professional records.</p></li><li><p>Respects the integrity of the student.</p></li><li><p>Performs other duties as assigned.</p></li></ul><p>SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES</p><p>This job has no supervisory responsibilities.</p><p>QUALIFICATIONS</p><p>To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.</p><p>REASONING ABILITY</p><p>Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
