2025 Camp Season
Work up to 40 hours per week from June 2-August 1
With the possibility to work Extended Camp Weeks through August 8
Typical working hours during camp season are Mon-Fri, 9am-5pm, but may vary slightly
Mandatory All Staff Training Dates: May 27-31 (PAID!)

Examples of Duties
Duties of Camp Counselors include, but are not limited to:
Working With Campers
Counselors are directly responsible for the supervision and safety of their campers
Responsible for the safety and well-being of campers at all times
Plan, lead, supervise and provide ongoing assistance to campers with outdoor and indoor recreational activities
Implement safety guidelines and conduct all activities in the safest manner possible
Serve as a positive role model for all campers, staff and parents in your attitude and behavior
Demonstrate appropriate behavior to camp participants, camp parents and co-workers
Follow and uphold all safety rules and procedures
Strive for inclusion of all camp participants in all scheduled activities
Interact with campers, staff and parents in a fair and positive manner
Manage camper behavior in an age-appropriate way to achieve camp objectives
Stay alert to campers needs and assist them with personal and/or health problems
Work cooperatively with other camp counselors, supervisors, and fulltime city of Dublin staff to create a safe and enjoyable camp experience that keep campers involved and having fun
Create and maintain group unity by making everyone feel a part of the group
Develop individual campers' independence, self-esteem and peer relationships in the summer camp environment
Assist campers in adjusting to the camp environment and to each other
Help campers plan their camp program by obtaining their input
Working With Staff
Set the example of Recreation Services' Workplace Expectations:
Demonstrate positive energy, trust co-workers, be solution-oriented and hold yourself and others accountable
Relationships: Counselors work very closely with other Counselors and Assistant Supervisors and have regular interactions with Camp Site Supervisors and fulltime Recreation Services staff
Participate and assist in the implementation of program activities for campers
Actively participate and assist other staff in all program areas as assigned including, but not limited to: field trips, swimming, songs, games and All Camp activities
Assist other staff in program areas such as Arts & Crafts, Sports & Games and Outdoor Education
Effectively communicate problems or concerns to Camp Site Supervisor and/or Camps Program Coordinator

Our time off policy states that staff are permitted to take no more than 6 days off during the 9-week summer camp season. Does your summer availability match this policy? Please explain in the space below: Note: Needing more than 5 days off for the summer season does not make the applicant ineligible for the position. Consistency in staffing is key when working with youth, but there are opportunities for the role of Substitute if more than 5 days off are needed.
