Position Summary

An Activity Specialist is responsible for the supervision of campers, the implementation of camp curriculum, promoting and actively participating in all camp activities, providing a safe and fun learning environment, and serving as a positive role model for campers and counselors.

Position Objective/Purpose

Position Scope Factors

Art Activity Specialists are employed in the following camps;

  • Day Camp: 4 8 year olds (Dream Camp: 6 9 year olds - Trinity College & Girard College locations only)

  • Keepsake Crafts: features hands-on, keepsake craft projects

  • Fine Arts: introduces campers to the various genres and media of famous artists.

  • Senior Camp: 9 15 year olds (Dream Camp: 10 16 year olds (Trinity College & Girard College locations only))

  • Art: Campers explore a variety of artistic techniques and create masterpieces with oil and acrylic paints, wax, dye and more. Projects include candle-making, tie dying, printmaking, fashion designing and cartooning.

Essential Job ResponsibilitiesGroup supervision of campers with attention to: behavior and group management, health and safety, security, and personal and skill development

Organize daily lesson plans in a fun and creative manner

Implement ESF Art curriculum; bring lesson plans to life for campers through your participation, support and guidance

Motivate campers by creating fun for them in your activity (i.e. - songs, games, cheers, etc.)Encourage creativity and critical thinking while making a positive impact on each of your campers

Use effective classroom management skills to lead the activity and effectively create an inclusive, fun environment.Promote and actively participate in all camper activities

Work effectively with fellow Activity Specialist and collaborate on daily responsibilities

Complete assigned paperwork

Serve as a positive role model to campers

Follow the ESF Code and maintain the ESF Look at all times

Employee is expected to exhibit ESF Core Values at all times and to adhere to all company policies

Experience RequirementsMinimum of one year of post graduate classroom teaching experience (preferably in Art) or 3 years comparable ESF experience

Previous experience working with children, examples include but are not limited to; babysitting, academic/athletic tutoring, camp counselor, youth volunteer, classroom assistant, religious education teacher

Previous camp counselor/teaching experience (preferred)Certification RequirementsTeaching certification (preferred)Education RequirementsBachelor's degree

Other Skill RequirementsOutstanding communication skills which include the ability to use clear, concise and grammatically correct written and oral language in all aspects of professional interaction with campers, their families, peers, leadership team and the larger community

Reporting RelationshipsReports directly to and takes direction from Activity Specialist Director. May also take direction from and is overall accountable to the Site Director.Working Conditions and Physical RequirementsAbility to push/pull, lift and carry a minimum of 35lbsEndurance to work outside and on your feet for 6-8 hours per day

Ability to respond to emergency situations which may require running (up to 1 mile in some cases) and climbing stairs.Good physical condition which enables candidate to execute all responsibilities associated with this position

Embark on an exciting journey and discover the art of the comic strip, the history of the comics industry and the origins of superheroes/heroines. Learn about the archetypes of comic strip characters and discover creative drawing techniques that evoke emotion and action. Create the perfect setting and fictional universe for your story to unfold. In addition to your comic strip creation, you and your team will create a life-sized version of your comic strip's main character to shine in the spotlight at ESF first ever "Camp Comic-Con". A True Life Adventure Specialist/Teacher teaches a minimum of 1 class but may also be considered to teach the same offering at 1 or more locations.
