Position Summary

An Activity Specialist is responsible for the supervision of campers, the implementation of camp curriculum, promoting and actively participating in all camp activities, providing a safe and fun learning environment, and serving as a positive role model for campers and counselors.

Position Objective/Purpose

Position Scope Factors

Art Activity Specialists are employed in the following camps;

  • Day Camp: 4 8 year olds (Dream Camp: 6 9 year olds - Trinity College & Girard College locations only)

  • Keepsake Crafts: features hands-on, keepsake craft projects

  • Fine Arts: introduces campers to the various genres and media of famous artists.

  • Senior Camp: 9 15 year olds (Dream Camp: 10 16 year olds (Trinity College & Girard College locations only))

  • Art: Campers explore a variety of artistic techniques and create masterpieces with oil and acrylic paints, wax, dye and more. Projects include candle-making, tie dying, printmaking, fashion designing and cartooning.

Essential Job ResponsibilitiesGroup supervision of campers with attention to: behavior and group management, health and safety, security, and personal and skill development

Organize daily lesson plans in a fun and creative manner

Implement ESF Art curriculum; bring lesson plans to life for campers through your participation, support and guidance

Motivate campers by creating fun for them in your activity (i.e. - songs, games, cheers, etc.)Encourage creativity and critical thinking while making a positive impact on each of your campers

Use effective classroom management skills to lead the activity and effectively create an inclusive, fun environment.Promote and actively participate in all camper activities

Work effectively with fellow Activity Specialist and collaborate on daily responsibilities

Complete assigned paperwork

Serve as a positive role model to campers

Follow the ESF Code and maintain the ESF Look at all times

Experience RequirementsMinimum of one year of post graduate classroom teaching experience (preferably in Art) or 3 years comparable ESF experience

Previous experience working with children, examples include but are not limited to; babysitting, academic/athletic tutoring, camp counselor, youth volunteer, classroom assistant, religious education teacher

Previous camp counselor/teaching experience (preferred)Certification RequirementsTeaching certification (preferred)Education RequirementsBachelor's degree

Other Skill RequirementsOutstanding communication skills which include the ability to use clear, concise and grammatically correct written and oral language in all aspects of professional interaction with campers, their families, peers, leadership team and the larger community

Reporting RelationshipsReports directly to and takes direction from Activity Specialist Director. May also take direction from and is overall accountable to the Site Director.Working Conditions and Physical RequirementsAbility to push/pull, lift and carry a minimum of 35lbsEndurance to work outside and on your feet for 6-8 hours per day

Ability to respond to emergency situations which may require running (up to 1 mile in some cases) and climbing stairs.Good physical condition which enables candidate to execute all responsibilities associated with this position

An Administrative Specialist is responsible for: * Providing administrative support to the Site Director, colleagues and camp families by performing general clerical, receptionist and project-based work * Serving as a liaison between ESF and camp families; assist with enrollment, admissions and camp operations * Providing a safe and fun learning environment and serving as a positive role model Position Objective/Purpose ESF is hiring motivated administrative professionals who believe in ESF's mission, build positive relationships and ensure the well-being of others. Position Scope Factors Administrative Specialists manage the camp office from 7:30am - 4:30pm; Monday - Friday. Depending on the location, Administrative Specialists work up to ten (10) consecutive weeks from mid-June through mid-August and start and end times may vary. Essential Job Responsibilities * Serve as a point person for ESF families; respond to inquiries in-person as well as over the phone * Assist families in enrolling their campers using CRM database * Collect and post payments; record data for billing purposes * Support summer sales initiatives; inform new and existing families of enrollment opportunities * Update camper records and input pertinent information into database * Answer telephones and transfer calls to appropriate team members * Call camp families to confirm enrollment or discuss camper needs * Greet campers and their guardians in the camp office; collect lunches and transition campers * Open, sort and distribute incoming correspondence including mail and email * Perform general clerical duties such as copying, mailing and filing * Ensure that camp office is clean, organized and well-maintained * Maintain inventory and complete assigned paperwork * Work effectively and collaborate with co-workers including other on-site Administrative Specialists, Nurses, Admissions and Customer Engagement Coordinators located at ESF's Headquarters office, Site Director and leadership team * Exhibit ESF Core Values at all times and to adhere to all company policies * Participate in ESF pre-camp trainings and opening activities * Have fun * Other responsibilities as assigned Position Competencies for Success * Understand and support the mission of the organization * Commit to the growth and development of youth * Work effectively with others in all levels of the organization in a professional manner * Demonstrate outstanding communication skills; using clear, concise and professional language when interacting with campers, camp families and colleagues * Be responsible, reliable and safe * Always have a positive, can-do attitude * Be patient, caring and creative * Produce consistent, high-quality work * Demonstrate excellent judgment; identify problems and work quickly to find solutions * Be a flexible, adaptive and a team player * Desire to make a difference in the life of a child Experience Requirements * Minimum one (1) year of experience working in an administrative and/or customer service role * Previous experience working with children preferred * Proficient in Microsoft Office and ability to use CRM database Education Requirements * Bachelor's degree required Reporting Relationships * Reports directly to the Site Director Working Conditions and Physical Requirements * Push/pull, lift and carry a minimum of thirty-five (35) pounds across campus * Work inside, upright and mobile for six (6) to eight (8) hours per day * Respond to emergency situations which may include running (up to 1 mile in some cases) and ascending stairs without undue exertion * Possess physical capacity to fulfill all essential job functions – responsibilities listed above This Job Description is subject to change at any time.
