The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) will perform patient care tasks consistent with their level of training and scope of practice. This includes general patient assessment, basic airway and breathing management, CPR and defibrillation utilizing an AED, basic treatment of shock, emergency childbirth, and the care of medical emergencies.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Basic trauma assessment, bleeding control helmet removal, extremity immobilization and splinting, and spinal immobilization.

• Document their patient care as part of an electronic medical record

• Perform care under the clinical supervision of a Paramedic

• Safely operate agency vehicles in both emergency and non-emergency scenarios, as well as utilize multiple pieces of medical and patient movement equipment according to manufacture instructions for use and agency guidelines

Required Skills and Experience:

• HS Diploma or equivalent experience

• Valid New York State Emergency Medical Technician

• Basic (EMT-B) certification

• Valid American Heart Association (or equivalent) Basic Life Support CPR certification

• Valid Motor Vehicle Operators License from the state of legal residence, with a driving record that demonstrates general compliance with motor vehicle laws

• Successful completion of the emergency Vehicle Operator's Certification (within 12 months of hire)

Preferred Skills and Experience:

• AEMT-I or AEMT-CC Preferred

Physical Requirements:

• Perform physical tasks consistent with an EMT-B certification

Location and Shift Requirements:

• Based at one of 3 sites in Schuyler County

• Tyrone, Odessa, and Watkins Glen

• 8s, 12s, and 24 hour shifts available

Pay Range Disclosure:

• $19.00 to $25.54 per hour
