As a Non-Emergency Call Taker, you will be hired at a starting annual salary of $37,938. Upon successful completion of all required training, you will receive a 10% salary increase. Examples of Duties:
As a Non-Emergency Call Taker, you
- Answer incoming non-emergency calls promptly and professionally.
- Gather relevant information from callers to assess the nature of the request or inquiry.
- Provide accurate and detailed information regarding non-emergency services, policies, and procedures.
- Redirect calls to appropriate resources as necessary.
- Adhere to all privacy and confidentiality regulations when handling sensitive information.
- Receive training to provide life-saving instructions and assist in dispatching callers to the emergency communications center during escalated emergency situations.
- Notify appropriate personnel and agencies of emergency incidents.
- Respond to administrative lines and provide callers with information and directions.
- Report problems to appropriate County departments.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED, and
- At least three (3) months of work experience in customer service, to include some experience dispatching or using a multi-line phone system; or
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
- Must be able to type a minimum of 25 words per minute. Testing will be performed during the interview process for selected candidates.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a call center or customer service role.
- Experience with computer-aided dispatch software.
Supplemental Information:
- Verification of education, certification, and licenses will be required before employment.
- Must be available to work rotating shifts, holidays, weekends, and special events.
- Must successfully complete the Call-Taker Training Curriculum.
- May be required to work mandatory overtime during shift shortages and disaster situations.
