Job Summary

Provides excellent customer service to laboratory clients. Supports clients by answering questions, faxing results, dispatching couriers, resolving specimen problems, assisting with test orders, and other related support.

Accountabilities

• Researches inquiries and issues related to laboratory orders. Provides accurate, complete, and timely responses to clients and laboratory personnel.

• Resolves problems by clarifying the issue, determining the cause of the problem, and selecting the best solution.

• Prioritizes issues to ensure timely resolution based on specimen requirements.

• 10%

• Operates laboratory computers to enter and retrieve laboratory data. Documents client interactions, comments, and laboratory responses.

• 10%

• Documents and routes calls to appropriate personnel, including dispatching requests to laboratory couriers.

• 10%

• Demonstrates knowledge of specimen handling requirements. Processes specimens upon resolution of a problem when appropriate, including account registration, test order entry, and specimen labeling.

• Fax and/or call test results to fulfill client requests.

• 5%

• Initiates service recovery efforts, by facilitating the recollection of specimens for testing not performed due to laboratory errors.

• 5%

• Provides feedback to laboratory leadership on activities and trends for continuous process improvement.

• 5%

• Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervisory/Management Responsibilities

This is a non-management job that will report to a supervisor, manager, director or executive.

Minimum Education

High school diploma, GED or equivalent.

Minimum Experience

One year of experience in customer service, preferably in a laboratory or healthcare environment.

Other Required Skills

• Basic Computer Skills

• Knowledge of Office Equipment (copier/fax)

• Data Entry and Mathematical Skills
