Responsibilities

The role of the CALIBRATION ASSISTANT is to support Active Safety Feature Integration Engineers with issue resolution and testing of all active safety features.

This role includes setting up, flashing software or calibrations, troubleshooting all modules and instrumentation for multiple programs and model years.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Update vehicles with calibrations and software

  • Plan and coordinate vehicle instrumentation

  • Prepare vehicles and instrumentation for test trips

  • Conduct/assist in vehicle testing

  • Participate on vehicle development and test trips as needed

  • Participate in weekly vehicle usage meetings with Active Safety Program Lead

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Associates degree or equivalent experience of 4 years or more within the automotive industry

  • 5 years of automotive technician/electrical technician experience

  • Experience updating electronic control modules

  • Experience root causing electrical issues in vehicles

  • Valid Driver's license and the ability to travel

PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • Automotive CAN tools (CANalyzer/VSpy/etc)

  • Familiarity with ETAS/INCA calibration and data collection

  • Understanding of data acquisition and analysis

  • High level of oral and written communication skills

  • Project management skills

  • Interpersonal skills to work independently and effectively with others

Preferred Work Schedule: Monday - Friday

Physical Required: Fit For Work Required

VIEW JOBS 10/9/2018 12:00:00 AM 2019-01-07T00:00 We are looking for a great engineer to fill a Lead Calibration Engineer role in GM's Electrification group at the Milford Proving Ground. We need someone capable of leading our calibration efforts for one of our new Mild Hybrid Programs. This position involves significant amount of technical leadership of both the program and within the calibration team. Lead Calibration Engineers provide day-to-day technical direction to the calibration engineers on their program and represent their team in broader vehicle development activities. Lead Calibration Engineers are also responsible for planning and executing calibration activities including development trips, calibration reviews, and vehicle property usage. Candidates should possess specific calibration release experience in a complex technology area, demonstrated leadership, planning and communication, teamwork, and prioritization skills. Lead Calibration Engineers are required to work cross-functionally with other groups, and assist in the resolution of system/vehicle-level performance issues. Within GM's Electrification group, calibration engineers at the Milford Proving ground are located in a unique cross-functional facility dedicated to hybrid/EV development. Role & Responsibilities: * Develop and optimize calibrations to meet performance and timing requirements * Deliver on-time and defect-free calibration releases per milestone requirements * Provide technical direction to assigned calibration engineers on program * Plan calibration activities & resources (LADV) * Release calibrations for production and development * Create and manage calibration responsibility map * Conduct calibration reviews to ensure high quality * Manage calibration change control, including approvals * Manage vehicle development property usage * Plan and execute calibration development activities, including test trips * Assist calibration engineers as needed with issue resolution * Mentor newer calibration engineers * Diagnose and correct vehicle, system, and controls deficiencies * Support resolution of vehicle, plant, durability/lab, or customer issues * Generate requests for software changes, develop new features/functions and requirements * Participate in propulsion and vehicle development forums (PPIT, PAPIR, CPIT, VPIT, dev/val …) * Utilize Problem Resolution Tracking System (PRTS) * Adhere to all Safety Precautions & Requirements; treat safety as the top priority during all work activities Basic Qualifications: * 4-year BS Engineering Degree (BSME or BSEE preferred) * Calibration/controls experience in a complex technology area * 7 years of overall engineering experience * Quick learner, able to handle planned and unplanned work, and able to handle multiple projects * Demonstrated planning, coordination, leadership and communication skills * Demonstrated cross-functional teamwork * Ability to legally drive a vehicle * Ability to travel about 10% of their time Preferred Qualifications: * Vehicle development experience * Calibration experience in either Engines, Transmissions, Batteries, or Hybrids * 5 years of experience in Electrification (Hybrid/EV) * Familiarity with diagnostics/OBD * Current or previous role in providing technical direction to others * Experience and comfort in interacting with senior leaders (including chief engineers) General Motors Milford MI
