Departmental Objective

Our mission is to serve quality products with fast and friendly service in a clean atmosphere.

Purpose of the Position

This position is responsible for cash and card sales in the Palette Café. Responsible for actual hands on preparation of menu items to include but not limited to brunch items, sandwiches, salads, coffees, an other beverages.

Responsible for closing the facility and clean-up. Ensuring high quality food and beverage with emphasis on exemplary service. Must be able to work posted café hours and be available to assist with any special events require the Palette Café to be open this is include but not be limited to normal hours of operations as well as evening or weekend events with prior notice.

Supervise student employees in the absence of the manager. Position may also assist in Einstein's as needed during Palette Café closings.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Related to Position

  • Understanding of food service, customer service skills, employee supervision and training, order taking, serving and safety

  • Ability to maintain professional appearance

  • Ability to work independently

Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification Required

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

Experience:

  • Experience in the food service industry

  • Supervisory experience

  • Cash handling experience

Additional Consideration(s)

Experience:

  • Café, sandwich and salad making experience

Role Code 79111 Salary Information Starting at $14.49 per hour, Commensurate with Education and Experience CNU Information

Conditions of Employment

This is an HOURLY position and does NOT entitle the incumbent to Commonwealth of Virginia benefits and is limited to 1500 hours in a 365-day period;

Selected candidate will be required to attend a 2-Day New Employee Orientation Program;

Selected candidate must be able to work during normal hours of operation (8am-3pm) as well as evening or weekend events with prior notice.
