South Seattle College is looking to hire a Part-Time Café Lead (Food Service Worker) in the Hospitality Program.

Hourly Rate for this position is $22.91 at 0.75 FTE. (30 hours/week)

This position is part-time, working 30 hours per week, Monday through Thursday 6:30AM to 2:30PM and Friday 11- 2:30PM The schedule may vary depending on program needs

This position is governed by a Collective Bargaining Agreement with representation by WFSE and subject to union shop provisions.

What you will be working on:

  • Lead works with Retail Operations manager on front of the house and back of the house operations, including executing the menu and completing inventory and keeping product levels stocked.

  • Lead responsible for being well versed in beverage preparation, standards with all menu items and food.

  • ·Executes menu items alongside team while ensuring consistency, food quality, ticket times, and service standards are up to Alki Cafe expectation.

  • Is able to train all baristas to Alki Café standards and expectation.

  • Effectively handles cash deposits to the Business Office standards for both Alki Café and SSC Convenience Store.

  • Leads by example while working in a fast-paced environment.

  • Maintains Profit and Loss by controlling inventory, making suggestions on item pars and sales,

  • Controls cost regarding food, beverage, and labor goals.

  • Works with leadership and performance excellence of the team by training, modeling, developing, motivating, and assessing all team members to ensure continuous growth.

  • Ensures safety, cleanliness, and security awareness standards are emphasized, practiced, and inspected.

  • Performs additional tasks as needed.

The food service worker is responsible for the activities and growth of the Alki Cafe including training and supervising team members, executing menus according to standards, and delivering exceptional customer service. You¿ll work alongside a team in a fun and fast-paced environment, executing menu items while upholding our customer service expectations.

What you bring as a candidate: (Any Equivalent Combination of Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education and Experience)

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • ServSafe Certification or Washington State Food Handler's Card

  • CPR/AED certification required within the first 30 days of hire.

  • 2 years of management and leadership experience or a college degree in culinary, business

  • Experience with fast casual restaurant or full-service experience

Preferred Requirements:

Café or Coffee shop experience

Experience driving operations and financial performance
