FT Caf/Bistro Assistant at Woodcrest Villa; hours vary (8:30a-5p/7a-3:30p); every other weekend and rotating holidays required.
The purpose of this position is to ensure all caf residents and guests are attended to in an appropriate, timely manner, while working within WCV/MHC policy, procedures and guidelines.
Resident Service- Practices a resident-centered focus. Creating an environment of compassion by acknowledging and respecting the individuality of each resident.
Accountability- Takes responsibility for own actions and monitors personal performance to ensure quality resident care and quality services. Follows department's and organization's policies and procedures.
Communication- Practices expressing oneself effectively and respectfully. Also listens well, gives and receives feedback, uses constructive criticism and helps to resolve conflicts.
Teamwork- Being open to learning from each other and celebrating and creating community together. Cooperates and partners with fellow team members to accomplish goals and shared purposes.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Responsible to assist the caf cook, as needed, and to operate the caf in the absence of the caf cook.
Responsible to monitor table areas, keeping vacant tables cleared off and clean.
Responsible to operate the cash register, fill/clean the salad bar, slice meats, and miscellaneous prep duties, as assigned.
Responsible to practice safe food handling practices.
Responsible to communicate to managers any problems that may result in customer dissatisfaction.
Responsible to demonstrate basic culinary knowledge, with portion control, slicing, cutting techniques, etc.
Responsible to prepare various food items for the caf.
Responsible to serve residents in a pleasant and gracious manner.
Responsible to attend to any special needs of residents or guests.
Responsible for cleaning assigned areas.
The ability to meet a variety of physical requirements such as reaching, bending, stooping, twisting, squatting, standing or walking, being on your feet 95% of the time, lifting various weights up to 20 lbs., and pushing or pulling of carts up to 20 lbs.
Responsible to attend in-services and training programs as directed or scheduled.
Performs related and unrelated duties in case of dept. or MHC emergency.
Responsible to be flexible in scheduling in case of staff shortage or emergency.
Mandatory training requirements completed as assigned.
Responsible to conform to MHC policies and procedures, including but not limited to policies regarding infection and safety controls.
Employee has completed annual compliance and HIPAA training and exhibits behavior as set forth by the code of conduct in the performance of their duties.
To assist in special functions by Management and also Culinary Events.
A high school diploma or GED.
Formal culinary education preferred or previous experience in an institutional facility.
Experience in preparation of foods, following recipes.
The Caf Assistant reports directly to the Caf Cook and / or the Assistant Directors
