The Specialist provides general services and assistance to the daily operation of the Center for Advanced and Emerging Technology (CAET), including greeting and checking and providing direction for visitors to the CAET. This position assists with various activities related to room set-ups. The Specialist provides limited technology troubleshooting for classrooms and meeting rooms.

ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS:

1.Cost Center Delegate CWE Executive Director and Vice President, responsible for purchasing CWE equipment, materials, and supplies.

2.Administrator for MCC CWE's customer relationship management software platform including implementation, customization, training, maintenance, and technical support.

3.Greeting and checking clients into CAET.

4.Checking out technology and equipment in the Prototype Design Lab and CAET building

5.Maintaining inventory for the building and supplies for the Prototype Design Lab and CAET building

6.Check in student's

7.Helping with workshops, and tour facilitation and scheduling Communicate with business and community partners to schedule and facilitate tours and workshops for the Prototype Design Lab and CAET offerings.

8.Assists clients, students and the general public.

9.Handle training room configurations, including chair/table arrangement, refreshments, and A/V.



  1. Assists with various activities related to room set ups.

  2. Provide technology troubleshooting to all internal and external customers including but not limited to PC hardware, software, and Wi-Fi.

  3. Serves as the central point of contact between CWE and various MCC departments to ensure uniformity and efficient integration of processes, procedures, and operations.

  4. Assists MCC IT department with diagnosing and troubleshooting simple and complex issues including network, A/V hardware, PC hardware, and PC software issues.

  5. Assists in the integration of new technology in to existing A/V solutions.

  6. Organize logistics for events and programming in CAET spaces including overseeing the development and maintenance of digital signage.

  7. Assists Public Safety in collecting information for incident reports at CAET that includes the Prototype Design Lab.

  8. Assists Public Safety in implementing severe weather policy when weather dictates.

  9. Assists as needed with daily operations, providing directions and information and assisting students, faculty, staff and general public by answering telephones, routing calls and taking messages as appropriate.

  10. Processes CWE staff onboarding and separation by ensuring that Technology Request Forms (TRF) are completed ensuring employee activation, technology requested, employee deactivation, and desk assignment/un-assignment.

2.Skill in operating a personal computer with Microsoft Office software and standard office equipment to include copiers, printers, fax machines, etc.

5.Ability to maintain confidentiality.

6.Ability to pay close attention to detail.

7.Ability to write and maintain accurate records.

8.Ability to handle a multi-line telephone.

  10. Ability to facilitate training on technical and non-technical concepts.

  11. Ability to provide excellent customer service for staff, students, and guests.

Required Qualification

High School Diploma or equivalent plus two (2) years full-time related work experience.

Equivalent combination of education and experience considered.

Preferred Qualifications Physical Demands

Working at a computer throughout the workday.

Strength to exert up to 50 pounds occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently.
