Position Summary

Intermediate level CADD position which, under general supervision, with some exercise of judgment, prepares computer-generated engineering drawings according to established standards and procedures.

  • Prepares Site Civil engineering drawings from rough sketches or from general engineering and design information (verbal instructions and notes) using CADD software programs (i.e. AutoCAD. Microstation).

  • Revises or changes drawings, traces and/or copies existing drawings and completes simple calculations with specific instructions.

  • Understands and follows the company's standard CADD procedures for layering and standard drawing procedures for sheet layout.

  • Prepares exhibits in ArcGIS.

  • Maintains schedules and progress reports.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Work in a collaborative manner.

  • Minimum of high-school or technical school-training with courses in computer-aided drafting or equivalent experience

  • Drafting Junior College or Trade School graduate preferred (specialize training or education may be substituted for experience)

  • At least 5 years of computer-aided drafting experience

  • Transportation project CADD experience including roadway, drainage, and channelization plans preferred

  • DOT CADD standard knowledge is preferred

  • Microstation Office knowledge preferred

  • Must have experience with current versions of AutoCAD and Microstation. Microstation is preferred. (Civil 3D, OpenRoads, GEOPAK, and InRoads experience is a plus)

  • Experience with project collaboration software is preferred (e.g. ProjectWise)

  • Experience with ArcGIS is preferable

  • Current technical knowledge of CADD operations, drafting procedures, and engineering specialty discipline Strong organizational and communication skills preferred

As a CADD Technician, you will have the chance to work with our engineers designing facilities for transportation infrastructure projects including railroads, highways, bridges and facility site plans. Working with other members of the team, you will develop 3D design models and associated 2D construction document packages. Help develop conceptual and detailed designs of sites for facilities and infrastructure projects based on scope of project, design criteria and applicable codes and standards. Assist with gathering field data to support development of design deliverables. * High School and Trade School or Associates Degree * Proficiency using Open Roads * 3 years of experience producing civil site design packages Preferred Qualifications: * Ability to produce designs on other platforms beyond Bentley Microstration including AutoCAD Civil 3D * Experience generating design documents to adhere to CADD standards At Jacobs, we help prepare people for new opportunities and challenges.
