Facilities & System Support

Position description

Serves as key production support person to work with Facilities colleagues with role-based assignments. Assignments include one or more of the following.

For Project Design (Greater than $30,000): Project CADD lead/designer, specializing in one discipline (architectural, interiors, mechanic and electrical), with some knowledge of all disciplines. For Miscellaneous Design (Less than $30,000): Team member for miscellaneous project requests, and/or Quality Control - plan check, and/or Outside A/E Firm - project coordinator for drafting service, and/or Department-based model of service -coordination of a departments miscellaneous design needs. For Programming & Standards:

Develop, modify and update Reference Standards, design standards, and General Specifications under supervision of architects and engineers. Coordinate all the above via Web Page. All positions serve as backup to each other as necessary, position requires abilities consistent with all roles.

Must be able to function independently and manage and organize large work load for timely completion of projects. Collaborates with CADD Coordinator in maintaining Mayo Clinic in Rochester floor plan database. Participates in the development and enhancement of our CADD production tools. This position requires all skills described in the Design Tech II job description and performance of those roles with high distinction.


Associate's degree in architectural/engineering technology or equivalent technology program. Minimum of eight (8) years' design tech or relevant experience, which includes five (5) years' healthcare design experience.

Additional qualifications

Minimum of 3 years' experience in architectural/engineering design projects at Mayo (or other healthcare institution) preferred.

Demonstrated knowledge of computer operating systems, and other computer software applications.

Demonstrated experience coordinating design and production of other team members, and use of CADD for presentations and construction documents.

Demonstrated oral and written communications, presentation, and customer service skills.

Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with all levels within the organization, vendors, contractors, as well as other internal/external proponents.

Demonstrated understanding of building mechanics, a knowledge of building materials, equipment, and construction techniques, life safety codes, building codes, and standards.

Demonstrated ability to adapt codes to specific design conditions and solutions and read and interpret construction documents, construction details, and specifications for all types of buildings.

Responsible for maintaining own personal technical competency and growth.

Demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize work and manage multiple competing priorities associated with heavy project load and tight time lines.

Demonstrated organizational skills.

Demonstrated ability to carry out all assigned tasks in an efficient, timely and effective manner.

Compensation Detail

Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The minimum salary every 2 weeks is approx $2086.40, based on a full-time position.

VIEW JOBS 11/6/2019 12:00:00 AM 2020-02-04T00:00 Overview & Purpose Target Starting Pay: $26 - $31 per hour. This range does not represent the full pay range for employees in this position. As an Engineering CADD Technician, you would be responsible for developing electrical wiring diagrams, schematics and single line diagrams, as well as completing civil, mechanical, architectural and structural drawings using Autodesk vertical engineering CADD products. Some specific responsibilities include: * Working with marked up documents from engineers, sketches or roughly designed concepts, verbal instructions and transforming those instructions into final construction or as-built historical record documents. Drawing assignments are predominantly related to water pumping plants and affiliated supporting structures/devices for power and control system type electrical documentation. * Understanding and completing drawings in accordance with CAP CADD Standards and internal process specifications as well as completing other discipline specific drawings (civil, structural and mechanical) as assigned. * Maintaining accurate and detailed records on project status and daily activities in the Enterprise Work Order System (INFOR). * Maintaining an archive of drawings and technical documentation in the Enterprise Document Management System (OpenText) and Autodesk Vault repositories. Retrieving, maintaining and recording drawing related information and generates reports by the use of the Enterprise Document Management System (EDMS), Microsoft Excel and Autodesk Vault Professional. * Preparing and assembling final hard copy plan sets and drawing listings for field delivery of vital documents. * Leading, coordinating and reviewing contractor drawing packages to comply with CAP CADD standards and Project Management schedules. * Confirming final record drawings are accurate and correct within Content Server and assisting in the file coordination between other projects affected.
