Reports To CAD Manager, Engineering Manager, Chief Engineer
General Position Summary
This position's primary responsibility is to operate all computer aided design (CAD) systems and peripheral equipment and exercise considerable skill in the use of graphics commands and preprogrammed material to develop drawings to aid in the design and construction of our projects.
Major Duties & Responsibilities
ability to run a CAD program such as Terra-model, Auto cad, AC Civil 3D, Micro-station or TBC
Ability to calculate alignments and profiles from documents or digital files
Understand how to generate line work for use with survey
Understand and be able to create 3d points and export point files for field Survey use
Ability to process and verify field data accuracy
Ability to generate deliverables such as reports or drawings
Other duties as assigned

Skills & Abilities
Ability to calculate quantities
Ability to generate 3D models
Experience with Trimble survey equipment and field software
Experience with GPS and Robotic Total stations
Knowledge of general construction, Roadway, Paving, Bridges, Drainage, etc.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to perform quickly and effectively under pressure and deadlines
Demonstrated proficiency of MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
Functions effectively as part of a team
Dependability
Ability to understand and follow directions
Must be well organized
Ability to multi-task, work well under pressure and meet deadlines
Ability to quickly learn and run new software and updated programs

Work Environment/Job Conditions
This job is performed both in the office and in the field. Field work requires experience and confidence working in and around heavy industrial equipment, systems and conditions is required. Activities and responsibilities require frequent sitting (often working on a computer), frequent driving, flying, walking, standing, light lifting, bending, and reaching. Due to computer usage, there may be repetitive motions of the hands and wrists.
