Mi-Tech is a communications contractor and we have a full-time opening for a CAD Technician located in Madison, WI. Job Responsibilities:

  • Geospatially create technical drawings within AutoCAD

  • Import shape or CVS files into AutoCAD

  • Import aerial imagery into AutoCAD

  • Analyze design and confer with engineering to resolve details undefined.

  • Process field data to prepare final as-built drawings in AutoCAD.

  • Assist with preparation of ROW permitting and submit to governing authority.

  • Additional duties and responsibilities may vary.


  • Associates degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering Technology

  • Or Associates Degree in Computer Aided Design

  • Or equivalent experience.


  • Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite, Word, and Excel.

  • Effective communications and interpersonal skills

  • Strong attention to detail as well as quality and accuracy will be essential

  • The ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

TRC is currently looking for a mid-level CAD Designer to join our team in our Madison, Wisconsin office. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic to work with engineers, hydrogeologists, project managers, and other technical staff in the preparation of drawings, designs and figures associated with technical documents. Organization, communication, and design skills will be essential to efficiently produce quality outputs, while meeting budget and schedules on multiple concurrent projects. General Description of Position: Responsibilities will include providing CAD support on a wide variety of engineering projects, including renewable energy, site remediation, geotechnical engineering, permitting, solid waste containment facility design, corrective action and construction projects. The Senior CAD Designer will be fluent in various software packages so as to develop civil drawings for all phases of the engineering design. The Senior CAD Designer will analyze sketches, notes, and other input material to determine the best approach to prepare drawings and operate a CAD workstation with proficiency in a fast paced Engineering Firm. This position may also involve field assignments on construction projects. Essential Functions of Position: * Work closely with senior design engineers to develop civil drawings using AutoCAD Civil 3D and other software as needed. Shall be familiar with the practices and procedures pertaining to technical matters in ONE or more of the following areas: Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Surveying, GIS and Mapping or PLS CAD. Shall have a thorough understand of 3D grading design principles and concepts and be able to effectively communicate these skills to others. * Shall maintain a working knowledge of internal and external CAD standards and the drawing database. a) Revise or prepare drawings with neatness and a minimum of errors. b) Assist in the gathering of survey information and the development of plans and maps from field notes. c) Perform tasks such as digitizing, copying and scanning of drawings, prints and maps. d) Assist in the acquisition of on-site field data to accomplish the design or to monitor and evaluate equipment performance. e) Generate drawing transmittals as may be required. f) Maintain accurate drawing records by entering and maintaining drawing database information. g) Self check all work and check the work of others as required.
