We are currently seeking CAD Technicians to join our thriving Technical Services CAD Group in the firm's Water and Infrastructure Business Unit.

What you'll be doing: As part of our CAD Group, you will assist engineers and multi-discipline project teams in preparing and managing drawings using CAD and/or BIM software.

What you'll need:

  • 3-5 years of experience in relevant fields (water, wastewater, civil land development)

  • Solid handson knowledge of AutoCAD and/or MicroStation

  • Perform routine to moderately difficult drafting assignments

  • Address redline markups provided by engineers or designers

  • Backcheck own work prior to delivery to internal client

  • Understand and adhere to company CAD Standards

  • Ability to adopt and work to a Client CAD Standard when needed

  • Familiar with working in a ProjectWise environment

  • Receive and adhere to budget expectations for task assignments

  • Communicate with engineers regarding task execution

  • Ability to interact, collaborate and communicate with project teams in a positive and proactive manner

Summary: Under general supervision, a CAD Technician at SAC will perform a wide-variety of mapping and engineering support activities such as updating and/or creating maps, designing drawings using geographic information systems (GIS) or computer aided design (CAD) technology; conducting research; reading and interpreting maps, blueprints, survey documents, or sketches; proofing or comparing the information contained on maps/drawings with information from different sources; measuring distances, areas, perimeters, and angles; and uses computer applications to enter, query information. Duties and Responsibilities: The following reflects management's definition of essential functions for this job but does not restrict the tasks that may be assigned. Management may assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time due to reasonable accommodation or other reasons. * Candidate must produce various types of drawings that include site plans, equipment layouts and details, elevation views of site/equipment, schematics and grounding details. * Candidate must be able to produce drawings from sketches, mark-ups, existing as-builts, site maps, photos, field notes and existing AutoCAD drawings (when available). * Candidate is expected to be a self-starter, ability to perform duties with only limited supervision and be a cooperative team player. * Candidate must be able to complete drawing packages in timely manner while maintaining a high level of quality, accuracy, and professionalism. Skills and Qualifications: * Preferred Drafting/Design in Architecture or Engineering field with 1 year experience or Associates Degree related to such fields. * Telecommunications Experience (Desired, not required). * 3+ years of CAD drafting experience and Telecom experience strongly preferred * Proficient in AutoCAD 2013 or newer, MS Office, Adobe Acrobat and Adobe Photoshop is a plus! * Ability to operate a plotter. * High Level of Organization and Scheduling Abilities. * Desire to Succeed and Learn New Skills. * Strong interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written. * Commitment to excellence and high standards. * Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills; able to manage priorities and workflow. * Ability to work independently and as a member of various teams and committees. * Acute attention to detail. * Good judgment with the ability to make timely and sound decisions. * Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm. Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to do the following: * Physically able to climb 1000 vertical feet per day. * Coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously. * Accurately complete detailed forms and reports. * Travel may be required but limited.
