SAIC is seeking a Drafter / Computer Aided Design (CAD) Technician in El Paso, TX. This position requires the candidate to be responsible for performing activities involving design software to create designs and detailed schematics used to manufacture products, bracketry, mounting solutions on military related platforms of various models, types and sizes. These detailed technical drawings incorporate the input of engineers, military analyst and customers that can specify dimensions, codes, materials, and production methods. These professionals may specialize in many areas including, mechanical and electrical drafting.
Duties include but are not limited to:
Coordinate the collection of data and incorporate this information into drawings, schematics, 2 and 3D models and renderings.
Consult with engineers, military analyst and customers while preparing and presenting their drawings.
Create and incorporate mathematical models validating component specifications and reproduce their schematics for use within reference materials, fabrication and assembly drawings, conceptual renderings and various other documents in the technical design package (TDP).
ability to understand and execute work based on technical or engineering documentation, written or verbal instructions, installation instructions, one wire, top down, electrical diagrams, one wire diagrams, hardware layouts and blue prints (TDPs).
Administrative duties include but not limited to Limited Technical, Inspections, red line engineering documents, provide input for prototyping and After Action Reports
Interpretation and clarification of red lined designs from other engineers as well as analyzing and executing corrections of engineering drawings.
Work with external fabrication shops to provide technical expertise for brackets and custom metals
ABET-accredited (AA) Degree in related discipline and one (1) years related experience, Or, High School and three (3) years related experience with relevant certification. Bachelor's degree preferred.
Clearance Level: Secret
Must be able to obtain a U.S. Passport for traveling out of the U.S.
Professional certification in mechanical drafting preferred
Proficient in 3D parametric modeling and SolidWorks.
Experience with AutoCAD a plus
Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T) a plus per MIL-STD-100G or equivalent ASME-Y14.100, ASME-Y14.24, ASME-Y14.35M & ASME-14.34M.
Work under strict deadlines to produce the required output according to set schedules.
Must have good communication skills, interface well with others and can brief military leadership at all levels
Requires a valid driver's license and clean driving record
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form
High attention to detail and quality
Able to plan and execute daily and weekly scheduled tasks
Able to keep work area clean and organized;

Required Travel: Up to 25% or more when needed
Must be able to obtain a corporate travel expense credit card with no credit limitations due to financial constraints
Must have knowledge on industry standards for proper types of hardware and uses
Ability to use common measuring instruments for concept generation and prototype verification (calipers, measuring tape, protractor, etc.).
Able to turn concepts into technical drawings that will guide the creation of real solutions and elicit additional requirement from end user.
Nonessential Skills and Experience:
Military background and Military vehicle and platform experience a plus.
Ability to work and be familiar in various work environments: office, field, assembly area, production area, warehouse area, military bases and test ranges.
Able to present ideas and designs in a professional manner to military and government customers, as required.
Familiarity with OSHA requirements
