Through the use of CAD and other software, and following instructions and procedures, the position performs detailing, redrawing, lettering, and tracing of drawings on components, assemblies, and engineering change orders for customer review, manufacturing, and installation of Cubic Designs' mezzanines and other related custom fabricated products. The position works from data such as previous drawings, layouts, detailed sketches, notes, verbal instructions, and standard references under the general technical supervision of engineers and senior designers.

Required Skills

  • Develop an in-depth understanding of Cubic Design's specific design standards and custom components for use in custom mezzanine and related structural design.

  • Use required drafting and structural design skills, and knowledge of CAD software, to create/develop layout plans, approval drawings, erection drawings, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and manufacturing details.

  • Able to complete relatively complex and unusually difficult projects, related to drafting, design, and detailing, with minimal support, assistance, and/or supervision.

  • Thoroughly check and confirm details of all design work for conformance with project specifications, Cubic Designs' design and manufacturing standards, and dimensional feasibility.

  • Converses with engineers, designers, and other subject matter experts to interpret design concepts, determine nature and type of required detailed working drawings, and coordinate work with others.

  • Verifies accuracy and completeness of drawings and project designs.

  • Compiling and analyzing data, computing quantities, and determining materials required to generate shop-details and BOMs.

  • Able to provide support, assistance, and training for less-experienced members of the Engineering Department.

  • Proactively seek, identify, and recommend opportunities for improvement related to Engineering Department operations and project-specific tasks.

EXPERIENCE

Associate Degree (two year college or technical school) Preferred Fields of Study: Architectural, CAD or Design
2-5 years of experience in a related position

Graphic design services include but are not limited to: bulletin/newsletter design; creating illustrations for social media and publications; branding and logo design; corporate and sales brochures and materials. This is a part-time opportunity for 29 hours per week. Essential Duties: * Assist in the Complete Branding process. Design logos as directed by Managing Art Director. * Collaborate with design team and make corrections, additions, and changes as requested. Continue editing process until the Managing Art Director approves final. * Create mockups for new/existing/prospective customers in the image of their organization. * Based on individual client needs, create proofs and final production design by scheduled publication due date. Steps include brainstorming and mocking up design ideas, presenting ideas to client, adjusting design to fit client needs, and using several software programs (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and MS Publisher) to achieve final project. * Maintain projects in Redmine project management system. * Create artwork for LPis social media platforms, and bulletin/newsletter customers. Job Requirements: * Associate or Bachelors Degree in Graphic Design or related program required * Previous graphic design experience is preferred * Strong creative and artistic skills * Professional knowledge of Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator.
