Job Title: CAD Designer
Location: Gardena, CA
Duration: 12+ Months

Project Scope:
The CAD designer's primary role is to work within the CAD design team or directly with product development engineers, creating 3D design solutions for automotive applications including: BIW, CIW, Mechanisms, Wiring, Lighting, Interior, Exterior, etc.

Roles & Responsibilities:
Utilize CAD software to create and modify 3D models and 2D design drawings
Release CAD drawings using Enovia System
Active participation in design related meetings (e.g. DFMEA, and Development Team meetings)
Excellent problem solving skills
Develops relationships across departments to effectively manage product to its maturity stage
Strong work ethic
Follows FF standards, engineering tools and generics and monitors conformance.

Skills Required:
Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university in an Engineering or related discipline
Minimum of four years related professional experience and/or training in the automotive field, on the actual or a similar product.
Proficient with Catia V5/V6/Enovia (Part Design, GSD, Electrical Design and Routing, Functional Molded Part, Sheet metal and more)
Proficient with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T)
High-level understanding of engineering design principles
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Proficient in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Design with emphasis on safety, reliability, and usability.

Shift: Day Region: USA (US) Location: Gardena , CA POSITION SUMMARY Candidate will work on-site at the customer facilities in Gardena, CA. Provide engineering leadership in support of West Coast Business Development group customers. Main duties include manage and mentor incumbents in issue identification, documentation, notification and resolution response in accordance with customer specific requirements. Develop and maintain metrics related to customer satisfaction and corporate/BU objectives. Design power distribution, grounding, wire and protection device sizing and inlines. Develop and maintain schematics. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Supervise Team * Ensure that team structure and staffing levels are in line with business requirements * Hire and work with team to improve their skills and competencies, using feedback, coaching, motivation, and mentoring techniques * Implement associate development tools, including objective setting and the performance review process * Ensure training needs are identified and met * Ensure the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of effective, efficient, and common processes, procedures, and methodologies * Ensure data is collected, analyzed and corrective actions implemented for team metrics * Provide regular communication to the team on administrative issues and policies * Assist HR with resolution of compliance, safety, integrity concerns, or grievances within team * Support long-range and short-term group forecasts, goals, objectives, and priorities * Prepare and maintain updated job descriptions ensuring functions are aligned with processes and procedures * Resolve customer and internal issues to facilitate implementation of group objectives and achieve customer satisfaction Routing, Packaging, Retention and Protection * Direct creation of 2D wire harness drawings based on customer inputs (3D data, Engineering Changes, red-marks, etc.) * Package components and wire harnesses into vehicles in the 3D environment, including splice locations at the harness level (where a splice is placed on the wire harness) * Define customer-directed components * Define retention and covering components (convolute, tape, etc.) to be used on the wire harness * Initiate NCRs (New Component Requests) and interface with Advanced Purchasing, Provisional Component Engineering, and ComBU for the development and approval of new-tooled components * Support customer in component selection * Support Design reviews and DFM analysis. Support analysis of circuitry and sub-systems. Engineering Customer Interface * Lead customer interface for technical issues and program engineering deliverables * Represent YNA Engineering at customer change control meetings and design reviews (e.g., technical design review, digital buck review, system compatibility review, etc.) * Represent YNA manufacturing to customer to support YNA DFM (Design for Manufacturing) guidelines * Support vehicle builds and launches at customer pilot and assembly plants Customer Change Control * Maintain customer part release system per statement of work * Review customer engineering change documents for completeness and accuracy * Communicate to customer the content and status of the design, design changes, and build requirements * Provide customer responses for cost studies * Update engineering issues in change management systems * Release non-Yazaki parts (screws, standard parts, etc.) into the customer system per statement of work Customer and Internal Design Requirements * Ensure design meets customer and internal requirements * Create and submit in BEAMS print markups for product designs that meet customer specifications and requirements, including DFA (Design for Vehicle Assembly) * Collaborate with DVP&R (Design Verification Process & Report) team to validate customer requirements * Develop and maintain program-specific, harness DFMEAs (Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Degree Requirements: BSEE, BSME or equivalent experience Previous Experience: * 10+ years of wiring and electrical system design experience in the automotive or aerospace industry. * 3+ years of supervisory responsibilities Travel Requirements: Frequent travel to customer site. Minimal international travel.
