Role Overview

This position is for a Drafting Services / Product Definition technician who is under direct supervision. Assists with basic drafting duties by operating Computer Aided Design (CAD) equipment. Performs routine drafting assignments requiring the application of standard drafting methods, procedures and techniques.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the CAD support of design projects and execution of Engineering design changes.

  • Support tasks includes generation of solid models and associated drawings.

  • Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing knowledge are required.

  • Works in a team environment to produce designs under the direction of the engineering staff, Sr. Designers, Checking and Supervisor and in accordance with internal standards.

  • Demonstrates good customer focus, drive for results, and problem-solving skills.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Associate degree plus 1-3 years of experience in UGNX or similar CAD software.

  • Working knowledge of standard 3D CAD modeling and drafting practices.

  • Knowledgeable of general checking requirements which ensures high quality work completion.

  • Ability to perform basic tolerance stack calculations and analysis.

  • Exhibits fundamental awareness of applicable industry specifications.

  • Basic understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.

Education:

Associates Degree

Primary Responsibilities: * Assure processes, including equipment, fixture design, routings, programming, tooling, and standard work in support of the following processes: * Assembly Processes for Aircraft Brakes and Wheels, Machining, Anodize, Chemical Etch, Aluminum Conversion Coating, Fluorescent Penetrant Inspection, Waste Water Treatment, and Shot Peen * Continuously improve quality and productivity using the Ace Operating System for products and processes including compliance to these processes. * Identify and implement cost savings as related to direct and indirect labor savings, and expense account budgets. * Ability to lead activities related to compliance audits including AS9100, NADCAP, etc. * Provide technical support for serving as liaison between Value Streams, Quality Assurance, EH&S and Design Engineering. * Project and Contractor Management * Capital Projects management * New Manufacturing Technology Development Qualification: Basic Qualifications: * 5+ years of experience in and support of manufacturing operations with a focus on machining and problem solving. * Experience with the continuous improvement philosophy including working within an environment that embraces the daily use of these tools in a team environment. * Candidate will have experience operating within a fast paced manufacturing company. * Candidate will have excellent communication and presentation skills utilizing tools such as MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). * Intermediate user of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) including MS Project. Experience with intermediate level functions in Excel such as analysis tool pack and macro programming. * Ability to work independently and with small teams. * Project and Budget Management. * Project work implementing new equipment and technologies into a production environment. Preferred Qualifications: * Machining experience including: fixture design, tooling, tool life management, CNC Programming and Geometric Dimensioning/Tolerancing (GDAT). * AS9100 experience is a plus. * Design experience with Siemens NX is a strong plus. * experience in a 3D designing CAD software (Pro E, Master CAM or Solid Edge) Nothing matters more to Collins Aerospace Systems than our strong ethical and safety commitments.
