About Transmission and Distribution
Southern CaliforniaEdison's (SCE's) Transmission and Distribution Organizational Unit (T & D)is responsible for planning, engineering, constructing, operating, andmaintaining transmission and distribution facilities throughout the50,000-square-mile territory. T&D is the steward of roughly $19 billion inassets that safely and reliably deliver electricity to 14 million residents viaSCE's 5 million customer accounts.
Develops layouts forcomponents and systems and selects material. Prepares design drawings,calculations, and bills of material from engineering documents associated withthe planning, design, construction, operation, and maintenance of the Company'sdistribution system, and telecommunication system. Performs routine to moderately complex designassignments within a specific engineering discipline. Works closely with Planners and may providefunctional direction to support staff. Provides information and makes recommendations having minor impact tothe project.
TypicalResponsibilities may include:
Preparesscaled work order maps using computer aided design software (CAD) such asAutodesk Utility Design (AUD) and Design Manager (DM).
Drawsmap(s) using the correct mapping symbols, call-outs, decals, proper tie downs,etc.
ChecksPlanner's redlines for accuracy and completeness prior to completing thedrafting/drawing.
Completesengineering functions and calculations based on field information and redlinefrom Planner (i.e., cable pulling, voltage drop, flicker, utilizing stationsheets, etc.).
Inputspole loading information in SPIDA software based on field information andredlines from Planner.
Preparesjoint pole authorizations based on field information and redline from Planner.
Inputscustomer, project, and billing information (i.e., completes faceplate, verifiesallowances, updates labor requirements).
Consultwith Planners and other planning personnel to prepare design drawings and modificationsas required.
Create and maintain a safetyconscious work environment by leading and influencing others to follow Edisonsafety protocols and safe work practices.
Perform other duties andresponsibilities as assigned.
AutoCAD certificate from a school accredited by the US Department of Education or an Associate's degree (A. S.) in AutoCAD.
Two or more years of experience providing support in any of the following fields: Drafting/Designing, Mapping, or electrical distribution planning.
Draftingand designing practices in CAD for electric utility, electrical distributiondesign, engineering design, or construction work preferred.
Handling multiple assignments concurrently,adjusting shifting priorities, and meeting deadlines.
Experience working with customers, identifying customer needs, and resolving customer issues.
Reviewingrough sketches, drawings specifications, and creating conceptual drawings incomputer aided design software.
Finalizingengineering product drawings with critical dimensions, performancespecifications, and quality specifications to be in compliance with designstandards and procedures.
Conductingquality review on designs, checks for inaccuracies, omissions, or complianceissues and providing recommendations.
Ableto drive, traverse on unevensurfaces, occasionally lift upto 40 lbs., sit/stand for extended periods of time, work in various weather conditions, and possibly be in remoteregions (coast, desert, and mountain) for extended periods of time.
Abilityto integrate work across relevant areas, manage information, and provideexceptional service to internal and external customers.
Flexibilityto attend 2 weeks training in a facility which may differ from base location.
