GENERAL PURPOSE: CAD Design Drafter

The CAD Design Drafter is responsible for high quality project design delivery which meets or exceeds the requirements of the contract agreement between BLUEFIN and the client. Your contributions will include producing plans and details for roofing, paving, and building envelope projects. The CAD Design Drafter is tasked with developing an in-house CAD details library and serving as BLUEFINs internal CAD expert.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: CAD Design Drafter

  • Collaborate with BLUEFIN Design team to prepare project plan drawings and specific construction details using AutoCAD for commercial roof systems

  • Translating ideas, sketches & specifications into complete & accurate working plans

  • Prepare AutoCAD drawings for building envelope and pavement systems as needed

  • Develop, compile, and maintain an in-house library of CAD design components for roofs, building envelope, and pavement

  • Creates and executes project and CAD drawing delivery schedules and revises as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements.

  • Ensures design documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately.

  • Contribute to periodic design reviews to establish and ensure designs are up to BLUEFIN standards

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS - CAD Design Drafter

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

  • Associates Degree in Computer-Aided Drafting & Design or related field

  • 3+ years of AutoCAD LT 2019 experience and/or related certification

  • Commercial construction experience

Preferred but not required:

  • BS in Engineering, Construction

  • SpecLink experience

  • ArcGIS experience

  • BIM experience

  • Historic restoration experience

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES - CAD Design Drafter

  • Proven aptitude to create high quality, professional CAD drawings for construction

  • Thorough knowledge of procedures involved with multiple phases of construction

  • Ability to read and understand contract documents, drawings and specifications

WORKING ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES - CAD Design Drafter

  • Ability to travel as needed for team meetings, client consultations, and/or site visits.

  • Work is performed in a non-smoking office setting with exposure to CRTs and UV rays

  • Usual office environment with long periods of sitting, walking, standing, stooping

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Lifting up to 30 pounds.

  • Working extended hours may be required

Without our skilled project teams we would not be who we are today, which is why we are seeking out IIBEC-certified Registered Roof Observers who can serve as onsite quality assurance observers and project managers for BLUEFIN projects. That is why we're looking for a Quality Assurance Observer to join our Mid-Atlantic team. GENERAL PURPOSE: Quality Assurance Observer - Commercial Roofing To effectively apply BLUEFIN methodology in the facility (roof, walls, pavement, and energy) inspection process for BLUEFIN projects and to provide quality assurance observation on projects as needed. While direct supervision is provided by the Quality Assurance Manager of the Mid-Atlantic Region (MAR), this position does work under the direction of a Project Manager or Project Coordinator in order to complete surveys for each project and will perform services for multiple customers. The primary duty will surround Quality Assurance Observation but other duties may include roof surveys, pavement surveys, and building envelope surveys. ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: Quality Assurance Observer - Commercial Roofing * DUTY: Quality Assurance Observation * Liaison between the Owner/Architect and the Roofing Contractor * Read, understand, and be familiarize with the related contract and the specifications agreed upon by the Client and the Roofing Contractor * Inspects the material and confirms correct storage methods * Reports accurate progress of the project, confirms correct installation methods and adherence to change orders, and oversees and advises in troubleshooting situations * As the roof system is removed confirms the condition of the deck and insures all necessary deck repairs are completed per the contract. * As the system is installed confirms the system is watertight on a nightly basis and the contractor installs undamaged and specified materials * Monitors all punch work and inspects the final product in conjunction with a manufactures rep to address any punch items necessary for warranty * DUTY: Safety * Adhere to BLUEFIN safety standards at all times * Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as project requires. May include full-body harness, lanyards, ropes, anchors, work gloves, sun screen, UV protective safety glasses, hat to deflect sun, hard hat, work boots, and safety vest or high-visibility shirt * Participate in identifying job hazards through the job hazard analysis (JHA) form and alternatives to said hazards * Participate and or lead daily safety briefing * Stop work, report conditions and/or behavior, and suspend work until conditions or behavior have been resolved * Report all incidents immediately including near misses * Handling hazardous materials as directed by safety data sheets (SDS) * DUTY: Administration * Enter time into system on a daily basis * Complete expense report accurately and timely providing all necessary back-up * Respond to emails/voicemails in a timely manner * Upload data on a daily basis POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: Quality Assurance Observer - Commercial Roofing EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE * High School diploma or equivalent * Minimum five years commercial roofing experience * Technically competent with field data collection tools * Technically competent with Microsoft Office Suite * Demonstrated knowledge of commercial roofing Preferred but not required: * IIBEC Certification: Registered Roof Observer, Registered Roof Consultant * Roofing Technology Certificate * BS in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field * Basic Pavement Technology Acknowledgements KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Quality Assurance Observer - Commercial Roofing * Ability to read and interpret project plans, specifications, and submittals. * Proficient use of lap top and MS Office software. * Ability to write detailed observation reports including photographic documentation. * Experience in performing infrared and capacitance moisture surveys. * Valid drivers license with minimal driving offences over the last five years. * Ability to perform minor maintenance work including restoration mortar and re-grouting tile. * Physically able to climb scaffolding/ladders on a daily basis. * Ability to communicate clearly with design teams, project owners, architects, engineers, general contractors and related subcontractors.
