Purpose of Position:

  • Assist in the administration and user support of global CAD deployment including integration of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM).

Major Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Assist/coach users as they utilize the CAD software to create/modify objects.
  • Assist users in the management of changes –answer questions and provide support to users for PR, CR, CN, Variances, Promotions in PLM application.
  • Support CAD Admin by running license reports, creating help content, and implementing CAD solutions.

Qualifications:
Required Education & Experience:
  • Associates degree in Mechanical Design
  • Minimum 3 years experience in Engineering and Manufacturing environment with full understanding of key product data (CAD models, drawings, BOMs, etc.).
  • Minimum 2 years experience using Product Lifecycle Management system. Prefer PTC Windchill PLM (PDMLink, ProjectLink).
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Product Development or Equipment/Tool design role.
Desired Skill and Experience

Requirements:
  • Project management skills and experience in requirements gathering, development, test and transition to production.
  • Experience working with and managing CAD systems. Prefer Creo, SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
  • IT Help Desk experience – diagnose and solve user reported system problems
  • Software testing experience – Prepare test plans, conduct test, report results, and work with team to resolve issues.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Computer application training experience – prepare training material and conduct user training in person or via web-conference.
  • Flexibility to work with multiple cultures and time zones and with users at all levels in the division (executives to factory operators).
  • High initiative, self-motivation and ability to work in multi-national, matrix organization
  • Bilingual is a plus (English plus Spanish, German, Portuguese, Polish, Chinese, Turkish)

This is a contract position.

Possibility of overtime, especially when travelling.</li> <li>Up to 35% travel</li> <li>Could include travel to Asia and Mexico (Reynosa)</li> </ul> <p>Scope of Position</p> <ul> <li>Support Corning Mold Development Engineering in the mission of providing our customers with world-class tooling for new product introductions and capacity upgrades, including mold processing analysis during concept development, tool fabrication, qualification, and on-boarding.</li> </ul> <p>Major Roles and Responsibilities<br /> Day-to-Day:<br /> • Concept Development:</p> <ul> <li> Provide design for manufacturing (DFM) analysis, budgetary funding estimates, capacity utilization estimates, and materials consultation for new product introductions</li> <li>Evaluate final part designs, and determine the most cost effective mold design relative to manufacturing efficiency, long-term tool durability, and simplicity of tool maintenance according to Global Corning standards.</li> </ul> <p>• Fabrication and Project Management:</p> <ul> <li> Initiate and sustain new project documentation utilizing existing department procedures and processes</li> <li> Ensure tooling solutions meet total project life requirements, optimize cavitation, meet or exceed cycle time targets, and minimizes material usage</li> <li>Interface with and manage tooling suppliers during concept development, fabrication, and final qualification of tooling</li> </ul> <p>• Qualification and New Mold On-boarding:</p> <ul> <li>Oversee T-1 sampling of new molds and analyze mechanical performance against planned development. Ensure process capability is created and documented for long term production performance</li> <li>Initiate first article inspection process and ensure that tooling performance meets engineering specifications</li> <li>Provides direction for seamless tooling transfer to production across multiple sites</li> </ul> Projects involved with: <ul> <li>New product introductions</li> <li> Capacity molds for expanding product lines</li> <li> Continuous improvement projects</li> <li> Research support for new technologies</li> <li> Performance Excellence Projects</li> <li>Urgent process-related issues impacting product quality or delivery</li> <li>Fundamental understanding (MEE)Projects</li> </ul> List two (2) or three (3) of the most complex decisions indicative of this function and its impact to the function, department and/or corporation <ul> <li> Determine manufacturability of plastic component concepts from Product Development Engineering (PDE) prior to acceptance for tooling. Provide rigorous DFM guidance to PDE for part function, ease of tooling, lowest cost solution, ease of manufacturability, and tool longevity</li> <li>Well designed and specified plastic parts will perform well in their intended application, allow for robust tooling solutions, and provide of a broad processing window</li> <li> Thorough analysis of tooling concept designs as presented by tooling suppliers prior to release for fabrication. Experiential feedback provided to tool suppliers to enhance tool function, repeatability, economic operation, and ease of maintenance</li> <li>Comprehensive timely feedback assures adherence to program schedule, assures tooling will function correctly and efficiently upon completion</li> <li>Selection of vendors based on alignment of capabilities to specific tool complexity and individual shop capacity.</li> <li>Determine appropriate region for tool manufacture for cost, quality, and project timing</li> <li>Correct placement of tooling projects will assure timely completion, and best-cost tooling solutions</li> </ul> Qualifications:<br /> <br /> Skill and Knowledge Requirements<br /> Education: <ul> <li>BS in Mechanical or Plastics engineering or equivalent degree or higher preferred. Any 4 year degree in an engineering principle can be considered and is strongly desired as a minimum qualitifcation.
