Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems has an opening for a Cable/Harness Assembly Technician to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Palmdale, CA.

Essential Functions:

  • Perform cable harness fabrication, assembly, and integration

  • Must be able to interpret mechanical drawings and wire diagrams

  • Must be able to work on and around ESD sensitive hardware

  • Must be able to hand solder per J-STD

  • Support integration operations - equipment moves, securing test cables, relocate cables, support test mates/demates when needed

  • Perform cabling wiring for qualification models and lab systems

  • Support the cognizant engineer in assessing and recommending design modifications

  • Support various labs during final integration

  • Technician may be required to work under or over hardware

  • Technician should be available to support 2nd shift, if required.

  • Work closely with engineers and leads to understand IPT needs

The selected candidate should thrive in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, collaborative/team settings across all levels. Candidate must be able to collaborate closely with electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, hardware designers, integration/test engineers, property management, and project managers.

Capabilities and experience should include strong background in cable fabrication. Task requires use of all cabling tools such as soldering irons, crimping, torqueing and potting. Most of the activities require taking instructions from engineering. Fabrication of cables either on mockups and lab assemblies. Layup wires on mockup fixtures to fabricate harness assemblies. Delivery of completed cables consisting of variety of different connector types (e.g. circular, D-Sub, or Micro-D). Integration and test of cables on flight assemblies. Support investigation, rework, and repair activities. Support of lab mates and demates. Delivery of lab sub-system to operations for integration.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent and 4 years additional education or related experience

  • Experience manufacturing cables/harnesses

  • Active In-scope Top Secret clearance with investigation date in last 5 years

  • Ability to obtain/maintain Special Program Access

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with building cables/harnesses which disseminate power, Ethernet/Fiber, RS-232, RS-422, RS-485, MIL-STD-1553, Quadrax

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of employees and management

  • Existing Special Program Access

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems (NGAS) is looking for a Final Assembly Inspector 3 to support the F-35 Delivery Inspection located in our Palmdale, CA facility. Responsibilities include: * Inspects aircraft components, parts, and sub-assemblies for operation and conformance to government and/or company standards and specifications. * Inspects the adjustments, repairs, or modifications made to aircraft components, sub-assemblies and final product. * May communicate directly with customers to ensure customer satisfaction. * Will monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures. * Maintains necessary inspection logs and writes inspection reports. * Visually and physically inspect aircraft center fuselage structure, system and electrical installations for conformance to engineering requirements using a variety of precision measurement equipment and inspection tools to include micrometers, calipers, ball gages, flashlights, mirrors, ohm meters, laser gauges and depth gages. * Structure inspections include location, gap verification, shim installation, hole drilling, fastener installation, sealing and coatings. * System installations include tube, hose, valve, fastener installation, sealing and coatings common to hydraulic, pneumatic and fuel systems. * Electrical installations include route, clamping, string tie, connector mating, pin insertion, crimping and coatings. * Locate, identify and accurately document nonconforming product/material at time of discovery per applicable procedures. * Visually and physically inspect rework and repair for compliance per engineering requirements. * Mentor technicians on nonconforming product/material discovered during inspection to include engineering requirements, how to identify the nonconformance and process improvement. * Develop, promote, and maintain collaborative team environment with fellow inspectors, support organizations and customers. * Work well as part of a team and individually to increase quality, efficiency, effectiveness and affordability through process improvement and other quality control methods. * Must be able to pass formal classroom training to include but not limited to hole drilling, sealing, countersinking, and fastener installation. * Must be able to certify for half and full face respirator. Basic Qualifications: * High School Diploma and a minimum of 4 years of Production, Manufacturing, and/or Quality experience. * Must be willing to work any shift, overtime or non-standard work schedule. * Must be able to work around composites, epoxies, and sealants for long periods of time. * Must be technically proficient in Microsoft Office Suite to include but not limited to Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook. * Must be able to perform moderately strenuous physical and repetitious work to include climbing, bending, crawling, stooping, and kneeling, lifting, working with arms overhead, leaning and laying. * Must be able to lift, grip, push, pull and hold 25 pounds. * Must be able to work in and around confined spaces to include but not limited to fuel tanks and ducts. * Must be able to push and pull own body weight to enter and exit confined spaces. Preferred Qualifications: * 4 years of aircraft structures, systems or electrical experience. * 3 years of aircraft quality experience. * Active secret security clearance. * Must be able to effectively communicate both verbally and written.
