The cable installers/technicians will support our clients Network Field Services team, and travel throughout the state installing the physical IT infrastructure at client sites. Cable installers/technicians will provide the provisioning, installation, operations, and maintenance of all IT cabling. Installing CAT5/6 and fiber optic cabling is the primary role, to include the termination and testing of CAT 5/6 and fiber optic cabling. Cisco switch configuration experience is required. Installations may include working in attics, crawl spaces and office environments. Travel includes leaving the office at 5:00 AM when necessary and occasionally returning back to the office after 7:00 PM, and if needed spending the night out. All travel will be in customer owned vehicles.


  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of equipment and product services in order to educate and answer customer questions.

  • Assist with rough-in cable.

  • Pulling and routing CAT 5 or CAT 6 cable in a new construction commercial environment.

  • Strong experience with CAT 5e, 6, 6A shielded/non-shielded copper terminations and dressing/terminating distribution frames (66 or 110 blocks, patch panels).

  • Experience with drop downs through the walls.

  • Installing support structures (ladders, racks, j-hooks).

  • The ability to work a flexible schedule including after hours and weekends.

  • Strong customer service and communication skills.


  • 5 years CAT 5/6 Network Cable installation, termination and testing.

  • 5 years Fiber Optic cable installation, termination and testing.

  • Cisco Switch configuration.

  • Experience running or bending conduit, along with using digital multi-meters, and cable testers.

  • Troubleshooting networking issues.

  • Rack and stack work, closet work, putting together server racks, patch panels

  • Must possess Your own basic telecom tools including punch downs, snips, wire strippers, cordless drill, PPE (hard hat, vest, safety glasses and work boots) etc.

  • Must be able to pass a drug test and background screening (no misdemeanor or felony convictions).

  • A valid driver's license with a clean driving record and a minimum of 1 years driving experience.


  • Must be comfortable walking, crawling, bending and kneeling.

  • Must be comfortable working outdoors and in small spaces (crawl space, attics).

  • Ability to lift at least 80lbs and handle a step/extension ladder at heights of up to 28 ft.


  • To include but not limited to crawl spaces, attics and office environment.

  • Work hours may vary.

  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and holiday hours for projects and priority service calls.

This position makes equipment recommendations and ensures that units are maintained. Technicians work in both our stores with Tool Rental Centers and in our repair centers. In a store, technicians will be expected to provide service to store customers in Tool Rental which includes writing customer contracts and invoices for equipment rental and tool repairs, checking to make sure tool is operating properly and demonstrating its proper use (as needed). In addition to supporting customer repair needs, they are also responsible for the day-to-day operation and maintenance of equipment in the tool rental department. In non-store locations, technicians will ensure units are repaired, tested for the quality of the repair and cleaned prior to returning to the store where the repair originated. Technicians must have a thorough knowledge of all tools and must effectively manage the tool inventory by maintaining the tools and repairing them as necessary. Home Depot Palm Coast FL
