Job Summary


Under limited supervision with general instruction for new work or a special assignment, this position is responsible for performing a variety of non-routine and non-repetitive assembly operations on electronic and /or mechanical assemblies and subassemblies. Determines and/or follows methods and sequence of operations in performing assembly tasks such as wiring, component installation, hand soldering and cable harnessing on assembly units. May monitor and verify quality in accordance with control procedures.

Essential Functions:

  • Identifies daily constraints and escalates to Supervisor or appropriate contact.

  • Conducts LEAP Meetings and follow-up on action items.

  • Leads Team and Tier board review.

  • Leads 5S activities

  • Maintain skills matrix and training records.

  • Approves, makes corrections and ensures proper time charging for subordinates.

  • Maintains metrics as directed by Manager for production group(s) to include overtime, overhead, realization and 5S activities.

  • Provide input to annual Performance Appraisals in his/her group.

  • Makes setups and adjustments holding tolerances to specifications. Ensures equipment is functioning as required.

  • May perform duties as required in his/her manufacturing functional area.

  • Manages labor resources, material and schedules. Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules. Recommends measures to improve production methods.

  • Assembles components, assemblies or sub-assemblies.

  • Makes setups and adjustments holding tolerances to specifications.

  • May perform duties as required in assembly of electronic equipment such as cables, harnesses, chassis, and printed circuit boards or mechanical assembly of panels, LRU's, batteries, and servo motors.

  • May disassemble, modify, rework, reassemble and test assemblies or subassemblies.

  • Responsible for observing all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company. Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.

  • Performs housekeeping and cleanup duties upon completion of assigned tasks.

  • May assist in training lower level assemblers or act as a lead and direct the work of others.

  • Other duties as assigned or required.

  • Participates in budgeting, scheduling and cost estimating of work as applicable.

Job Qualifications

  • Typical requires a high school diploma or equivalent and five or more years experience.

  • May substitute equivalent experience in lieu of education.

  • Ability to train and lead others. Proficient in computer operations and applications pertinent to the field. Analytical ability to interpret detailed instructions, drawings and specifications. Competencies to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw conclusions.

  • Ability to diagnose complex mechanical/electrical problems and find effective solutions. Communication skills necessary to write and record precise information and submit reports. Special skills and expertise to use complex equipment or experimental techniques.

Avionics and Tactical Networks (ATN) is an operating unit within the Mission Systems sector of Northrop Grumman. What You'll get to Do: This position builds and assembles cables including D38999 connectors, RF cables , Ethernet cable , Coaxial cables, Molex cables, and quadrax cables. The build of cables includes clocking backshells, splicing, wire identification with laser, and creating labels to be used in our products. * Perform a variety of tasks ranging from repetitive to non-repetitive production cable assemblies. Must be able to work from redlines. * Perform a variety of manufacturing tasks and processes in the build of cable and harness assemblies. * Build simple to complex cables. * Make continuity checks on work in process and completed cables. * May conduct quality PEER reviews on processing line in accordance with quality specifications. * May disassemble, modify, rework, reassemble, and test prototype assemblies and subassemblies according to specifications. * Some mechanical assembly.
