In Nikola as a Cab Integration Lead Engineer, you will lead integration studies for the resolution of
engineering issues related to cab throughout all the vehicle development cycle. You will lead
different engineering stakeholders to successfully integrate all the surrounding systems to the cab.
You will create technical requirements based on vehicle attributes, features, and functions set by
the program team. For future and current programs, you will interface with the cab interior,
exterior, BIW, and closures teams to help the entire cab team succeed in meeting requirements.Qualifications:
A Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or in a related field.
7+ years automotive industry with emphasis on design release and/or integration across multiple engineering disciplines. Experience in all stages of the product lifecycle is preferred.
Proven experience in development of at least one of the following systems: interiors, exteriors, closures, or body structures.
Working knowledge of GD&T, FMEA, DVP&R, DFSS, DFA, DFM, APQP and problem resolution.
Must be proficient in CATIA. Capable of creating visibility and reachability studies from scratch.
Capable of transforming styling surfaces into components that meet all engineering requirements. Ability to create guidance A-surfaces for the studio on tight timelines.
Must be able to create tolerance stack-up analyses for various systems.
Engineering knowledge of defined requirements and validation of component/system design, function, performance, production & manufacturing requirements, testing, and validation.
Excellent leadership skills that can drive a team to act quickly and decisively. Strong sense of accountability and ownership.
You will report to the Cab Integration Manager as the responsible for cab integration studies.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, suppliers, manufacturing, testing, and validation teams on the complete life cycle of the project through product launch, and implementation of lessons learned on subsequent products (cradle-to-cradle responsibility).
Apply fundamental physics to lead the progression of design maturity from initial concept to product launch, to next concept.
Generate and review 2D, 3D, and analytical models.
Lead definition of appropriate system-level engineering targets to meet function, quality, and attribute requirements of the vehicle program.
Lead development and validation of vehicle/system design specifications incorporating company/industry/regulatory standards, test procedures and material specifications.
Assess risk of systems that do not meet targets and provide engineering solutions to ensure systems can meet targets.
Lead resolution of design, attribute, or packaging incompatibilities through deep collaboration with cross-functional teams.
Troubleshoot and resolve validation issues.
Support vehicles launch and pre-production builds (both virtual and physical).
