In Nikola as a Cab Integration Exteriors Engineer, you will lead all the engineering disciplines on the
resolution of engineering issues related to cab exteriors throughout all the vehicle development
cycle. You will lead different engineering stakeholders to successfully integrate all the surrounding
systems to the cab exterior.
During the current development phase, you will ensure that all cab exterior systems are successfully
integrated for our current launch. For future and current projects, you will execute customer
requirements, develop functional objectives, establish targets, confirm feasibility, and demonstrate
performance of all exterior cab systems.
Qualifications:
A Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or in a related field.
5+ years automotive industry with emphasis on design release and/or integration across multiple engineering disciplines. Experience in all stages of the product lifecycle is preferred.
Proven experience in development of exterior systems from inception through launch on multiple programs.
Working knowledge of GD&T, RSS, FMEA, DVP&R, DFSS, DFA, DFM, APQP and problem resolution.
Must be proficient in CATIA with the ability to create study files for engineering proposals.
Engineering knowledge of defined requirements and validation of component(s)/system(s) design, function, performance, production & manufacturing requirements, testing, and validation.
Excellent leadership skills that can drive a team to act quickly and decisively. Strong sense of accountability and ownership.
Responsibilities:
You will report to the Cab Integration Manager as the responsible for cab exterior integration.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, suppliers, manufacturing, testing, and validation teams on the complete life cycle of the project through product launch, and implementation of lessons learned on subsequent products (cradle-to-cradle responsibility).
Apply fundamental physics to lead the progression of design maturity from initial concept to product launch, to next concept.
Generate and review 2D, 3D, and analytical models.
Lead definition of appropriate system-level engineering targets to meet function, quality, and attribute requirements of the vehicle program.
Lead development and validation of vehicle/system design specifications incorporating company/industry/regulatory standards, test procedures and material specifications.
Ensure exterior systems meet vehicle level and system level targets.
Lead resolution of design, attribute, or packaging incompatibilities through deep collaboration with cross-functional teams.
Troubleshoot and resolve validation issues.
Support vehicles launch and pre-production builds (both virtual and physical).
