The C4ISR Systems business area provides actionable intelligence for our warfighters and decision makers through innovative technical solutions from the seas, to the skies, to the stars.

The C4ISR Systems business area is looking for a Product Line Engineering Lead (PLEL) for our Space Systems Product Line. Space Systems is the premier provider of advanced mission payloads and advanced high-reliability space electronics. Our products include space protection & advanced mission payloads, secure enterprise communications, radiation-hardened electronics, and ground data processing. Our mission critical payloads enable next-generation battle management command and control solutions to minimize timeline from decision to action and increase space domain awareness. We utilize our experience and expertise in platform protection to secure the next generation of space assets to defend at home and abroad.

The PLEL will be the primary engineering leader for a family of products focusing on program execution, new business growth, product leverage, product evolution, and continuous improvement. The PLEL provides engineering leadership for the product line during all lifecycle phases. The PLEL helps define technical strategies for competitive bids, customer engagement, and business models. The successful candidate reports to the C4ISR Systems Business Area Engineering Director and the Space Systems Product Line Director.

The successful applicant will bring strong experience in complex classified product development for space systems (RF, optical communications, and/or radiation hardened electronics). Experience with opportunity shaping, proposal preparation, program planning, and program execution with strong cost account management and risk and opportunity management will be needed to mentor and lead a high-performance engineering organization. Experience successfully leading teams across multiple sites and experience with leveraged product strategies is desired.

Specific job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Partner with the Product Line Director and staff to develop and deliver products and systems that meet our customer needs.

  • Partner and collaborate across all the disciplines, functions, and business areas to effectively support engineering across the enterprise.

  • Meet cost, schedule and technical performance for Product Line projects through their life cycle.

  • Ensure preparation and approval of competitive engineering bids that are executable, meet established price-to-win targets, and grow the business.

  • Serve as overall customer (internal / external) engineering point of contact for the product line.

  • In collaboration with the Product Line technical director and leadership team, prepare and communicate Product and Technology Roadmaps that sustain and grow the business.

  • Identify and support the development of critical skills and resources.

  • Drive strategies for diversity, equity, inclusion (DEI) and other considerations for improving and optimizing organizational performance of a geographically dispersed team.

  • Develop and maintain measures related to engineering performance.

  • Develop and lead continuous improvement activities and ensure adoption within the organization.

  • Ensure proper audit-ready application of process based on the size and complexity of the project.

  • Establish goals, performance standards, budgets and staffing plans.

  • Improve processes and skills that support program performance.

As a leader and supervisor, the PLEL must also:

  • Work across organizational boundaries to solve problems and secure resources.

  • Recruit, train, develop and retain Program Engineering Managers (PEMs) and teams to meet business needs.

  • Perform supervisory duties in alignment with the business.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Active Top Secret/SCI clearance is preferred, or active DoD Secret clearance with the ability to obtain Top Secret/SCI and SAP security clearances

  • Bachelor's degree and Minimum 15 years of technical leadership experience or equivalent and space mission/domain knowledge of emerging C4ISR systems and capabilities relevant to the business

  • Ability to form a vision and implement action plans to achieve that vision

  • Proven ability to share and transfer technology across organizational boundaries to the benefit of our customers and the business

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Although the PLEL will be a hybrid position, this role will primarily require work in the office as an influential business leader who will support classified work. The PLEL will reside in one of the Space Systems Product Line locations in Manassas, Virginia; Hudson, New Hampshire; or Merrimack, New Hampshire and will periodically travel to each site.

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $164000 - $278800

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
