Quantitative Developers in the firm are responsible for designing, building and optimizing the core research platform and other tools essential for the analysis ecosystem. These developers work alongside researchers to perform various functions, including designing novel components to drive research efficiency and accuracy, identifying and optimizing critical bottlenecks in existing research pipelines, as well as maintaining tools that ensure fidelity of research data.


  • Provide application and analytics support to Quantitative Researchers.
  • Collaborate with other Developers to act as a voice for QR needs within the broader tech ecosystem.
  • Design and develop software used in a variety of research contexts.
  • Develop scripts and tools to generate high fidelity data for QR workflows.
  • Develop scripts to automate the analysis and validation of QR simulation results.


  • Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills required.
  • Knowledge in statistics, probability and linear algebra required.
  • Experience with numerical analysis (e.g., regression, optimization) and machine learning is a big plus.
  • 2+ years of programming experience with strong OOP and scientific programming skills and fluency in C++.
  • Experience with data-oriented development in Python preferred

Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or another highly quantitative field. Advanced degree preferred.

Responsibilities AIR is currently seeking an Education Researcher with strong quantitative analysis experience to work on multiple projects with a focus on early childhood development, special education, English Learners, and multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS).Responsibilities for this position include:• Analyze, interpret, and report on complex quantitative data using appropriate statistical and/or psychometric methods (multiple linear regression, HLM, Structural Equation Modeling, IRT, etc.)• Design data collection frameworks and/or data crosswalks• Lead tasks and projects using rigorous designs such as randomized control trials, regression discontinuity, and quasi-experimental designs with tight controls• Contribute substantively, thoughtfully, and creatively to the conceptualization and design of education research studies• Write reports, briefs, proposals and other documents that are clear, concise, thoughtful and contribute substantively to the field• Monitor, coordinate, and provide direction to assigned project staff by providing guidance to staff in terms of appropriate research methods, analysis, and reporting• Develop and manage daily relationships with clients to plan, implement, and present the results of the study while maintaining appropriate professional objectivity• Provide analytic and statistical expertise and assistance to clients Qualifications * Ph.D. in education, economics, sociology, or other related field, or Master's degree with 4-7 years of relevant work experience• Able to apply advanced statistical methods, and able to communicate effectively about these methods to both technical and non-technical audiences• Highly proficient in STATA or R, and open to learning new statistical tools as required by different projects• Knowledge or experience with the analysis of large-scale data sets, and experimental and quasi-experimental designs• Prior quantitative research on policy-relevant topics in education using advanced methods such as fixed effects, regression discontinuity, or instrumental variables• Interest and expertise in content related to early childhood, special education, English learners or MTSS preferred All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, gender, gender identity/expression, sexual orientation, national origin, protected veteran status, or disability.
