This position is responsible for providing personal care and designated health-related services
designed to maintain the resident's physical and emotional well-being.
Shift 11:00 p.m. - 7:00 a.m.
3 days per week
Assist the resident with personal cares, which may include all or some of the following: shampooing of hair, assist with showering, rubbing with lotions, fingernail cares if instructed to do so, redirection of a confused resident, and other cares as assigned.
Assist with dressing, grooming and oral cares as assigned.
Assist in use of hearing aids and glasses for residents.
Help each resident to reach and maintain the highest level of performance and independence.
Assist with treatments as requested by lead nurse per individualized care plan.
Observe client and report changes in physical and emotional condition such as change in attitude, loss of appetite, weight, etc.
Prepare meals as directed following special meal plans if instructed.
Take and record temperature, blood pressure, pulse and respiration as instructed. Report changes or concerns to lead nurse.
Attend In-service training as assigned.
Follows cleaning schedule per shift worked.
Lead resident activities as scheduled and assigned.
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, correspondence and memos.
Ability to write simple correspondence and documentation on each resident.
Ability to effectively present information on one-to-one and small group situations to customers, residents and other employees of the organization.
Registered Nursing Assistant or Certified Nursing Assistant credential preferred.
High School Diploma and ability to work under close supervisions and follow verbal and written instructions.
Ability to work rotating shifts, weekends and holidays. Ability to participate in in-service training or staff meetings, which may be scheduled outside of usually assigned hours of work.
Ability to transfer residents with assistance.
Ability to work with a variety of personalities, exercise tact and good judgment in dealing with varying and sometimes stressful situations.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Must understand and communicate using specialized medical terminology.
Must be punctual, with a good attendance record.
Must be mature and emotionally stable using calm and kind tone of voice, remaining calm in difficult or unusual circumstances.
Promoted independence, not dependence, with residents offering choices and fostering self-help skills.
Must be able to prioritize and organize work effectively and efficiently.
Must be flexible and adaptable to changing situations.
Must be compassionate and work with tact and ethical awareness.
Must work as a team member with other personnel, supervisor and RN.
Must demonstrate good interpersonal skills.
