This position is for an experienced (Level 4) Automatic Test Equipment engineer for the C-17 Globemaster III military airlifter program, within the Avionics and Automatic Test Equipment team located in Long Beach, California.

Position Responsibilities:

The selected candidate will collaborate with multiple engineering disciplines in the development, testing, qualification and support of Automatic Test Equipment (ATE).

The candidate will provide software and hardware applications design, development and technical support for an automatic test station environment that utilizes Teradyne TestStudio, Microsoft Visual Studio, National Instruments LabWindows/CVI, and ATLAS.

Tasks include:

  • Analyze test requirements and design hardware and software ATE solutions that meet requirements

  • Provide technical data to project leadership and integrate the work of supporting organizations

  • Provide technical interface to USAF customers and external suppliers

  • Design, develop, integrate and support test instrument drivers for Avionics Test Program Set (TPS)

  • Provide ATE expertise and support to internal TPS developers and USAF Avionics backshops

  • Provide general software support for ATE laboratory environment

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a "US Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. 120.15 is required. "US Person" includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • 3+ years of experience in Custom electrical/SW design for automatic test equipment

  • Technical Bachelor's, Master's or a PhD degree? (A technical degree is defined as any four year degree, or greater, in a mathematic, scientific or information technology field of study).

  • 5+ years of experience in following a software development life cycle (i.e., application development & support)

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience in test software design such as National Instruments LabView

  • Experience with Visual Studio IDE

  • Experience with ATLAS programming and test language

  • Experience with relational databases, PL/SQL scripting and optimization

  • Experience with standardized Network Protocols and Services (i.e. TCP/IP, VLAN, DNS, DHCP, Firewalls, etc.)

  • Experience programming in C, C++ or C#

  • Experience interfacing with hardware circuit boards such as 1553, Serial RS-422/485, Digital, or Analog

Typical Education/ Experience:

Education/Experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in Aerospace Engineering, Physics, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or Software Engineering (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Relocation:

This position is located in a location that does not offer relocation. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.

Required Skills:

Experience with ATE Engineering, knowledge of test instruments device driver wrappers and self-test software development. Knowledge of ATE design to meet unit under test (UUT) electrical, interface, and communication protocol requirements.

Preferred Additional Skills:Experience in software development using C, C++, C# and/or ATLAS. Experience in software development using LabWindows/CVI. Knowledge of the following aircraft communication protocols: 1553, ARINC 429, RS-232, RS-422, and Ethernet.

The GISP Program provides sustaining engineering in multiple engineering disciplines. This mid-career position will support Ground Support Software development, integration and qualification as well investigating fielded software anomalies.
