BYU OHS School Counselor
The BYU Online High School (BYU OHS) school counselor reports directly to and works closely with the BYU High School Online Learning Education Service Agency (ESA) school counselor. Under the direction of the ESA school counselor, the BYU OHS school counselor oversees the school¿s academic advising and counseling, graduation, transcripts and credits, mental health counseling referrals, College and Career Readiness planning, and college application support.
The school counselor supervises student progress, and coordinates student academic planning with teachers and Parents. The school counselor works with students and school staff to provide access to and help communicate about additional educational resources and other support available through the Division¿s Student Success Center. This is a year-round three-quarter time position in an online school environment.
The school counselor will work an estimated 28 hours or less a week. Hours will vary based on enrollment.
What you¿ll do in this position:
Student and Parent Counseling Advisement, and Support
Transcript review and processing, audit student records, oversee document management of student records
Work with the ESA School Counselor to implement a College and Career Readiness School Counseling Program
What qualifies you for this role:
Required
A firm commitment to the mission of BYU
Master¿s degree in School Counseling, holds a Utah School Counseling License, and has previous experience counseling and advising students in a High School setting.
Any required licenses, certifications, etc.
Preferred
Working knowledge of Canvas Learning Management System (LMS)
International transcript evaluation exposure/experience (SpanTran, IERF, etc.)
Experience with ACT/SAT testing, curriculum development.
