2.5% Educational Incentive for a Bachelor's degree in a related field is available for Buyer or Senior Buyer.

The Opportunity:

The City is currently searching for a skilled, innovative, experienced and enthusiastic individual to join the Finance Department as a Buyer or Senior Buyer, depending on experience and education. The ideal candidate will possess and demonstrate confidence and professionalism. This position will support the centralized purchasing of materials, coordinates provision of services, supplies, and equipment for use by various City departments.

The Recruitment Process:

Applications and supplemental questionnaires will be screened and the most highly qualified candidates will be invited to participate in the recruitment process, which will likely include a Qualifications Appraisal Interview and practical exam on June 18, 2024.Successful candidates will be placed on an eligible list for employment consideration for at least six months.

Qualification Guidelines

BUYER QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Equivalent to completion of high school, supplemented by coursework in purchasing, business administration, accounting or a closely related field. Possession of an A.S. degree is desirable.

Experience: At least three years experience in purchasing a wide variety of goods and services following established, formal procedures.

SENIOR BUYER QUALIFICIATIONS:

Education: Equivalent to completion of high school, supplemented by coursework in purchasing, business administration, accounting or a related field. Possession of an A.S. degree or professional certification, such as Certified Public Purchasing Buyer or Accredited Purchasing Professional, is desirable.

Experience: At least five years of progressively responsible experience in purchasing a wide variety of goods and services. Experience in a governmental purchasing environment is desirable.
