Job Description:

Phillips-Medisize, LLC is seeking a Buyer/Planner to develop and manage production schedules in support of sales requirements. Create sourcing strategies, lead negotiations and other duties related to the business of procurement and materials management.

Essential Functions:

  • Develop and update production schedules to support sales requirements.

  • Provide coordination and communication with Production Supervisors to handle scheduling conflicts.

  • Communicate shipment information to customer service.

  • Analyze customer forecasts and materials requirements.

  • Create and revise purchase orders for raw materials and sub-contractors in support of production requirements.

  • Track due dates to ensure timely deliveries and revise purchase orders as needed.

  • Responsible to keep raw material inventory level at company specific goals.

  • Facilitate and manage regular communication with suppliers/vendors to ensure timely delivery.

  • Expedite the resolutions of issues relating to the product and/or delivery.

  • Initiate and follow through on supplier changes; interacts with suppliers for quotation, and to follow up on purchases.

  • Evaluate and manage vendors/suppliers on the basis of price, quality, service, support and availability.

  • Participate in cross-function teams to implement cost, quality, supplier and comparison documents.

Position Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • 3+ years' of experience in planning, purchasing and materials management.
  • 2+ years' experience with SAP or other MRP systems

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in planning, purchasing and materials management.

  • Supply Chain Management Coursework

Skills and Abilities:

  • Must understand and adhere to all laws pertaining to procurement, contracts, breach by contract, etc.

  • Demonstrate continued flexibility to adapt to changes in the work environment.

  • Strong negotiation skills and communication skills with customers.

  • Proficient in developing documents and spreadsheets (with formulas) using All Microsoft applications.

  • Excellent computer skills; ability to effectively use word processing software, spreadsheet analysis, Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook, Internet, etc.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively and project a professional image verbally, in writing and in person.

  • Excellent organizational skills, time management, problem solving and multi-tasking skills are a must

  • Knowledge and experience with SAP is highly desirable.

VIEW JOBS 2/7/2020 12:00:00 AM 2020-05-07T00:00 Overview QSC seeks an experienced and self-motivated Senior Buyer (SB) who will add value to the enterprise through performance of their job duties as well as meet the financial performance required by QSC. The SB is to select suppliers and obtain all assigned materials and services for QSC. The SB is responsible for selecting suppliers and purchasing the required quantity of materials and/or services as directed by the Material Requirement Plan, Global Master Planning Team or New Product Development Projects. This must be accomplished at the best total cost possible within the constraints of the required delivery date and quality standards established by QSC. Optimization of delivery, quality and price is more important than absolute lowest price. Responsibilities * Interface between supplier and QSC, be the lead on preventing, identifying and solving any problems that would affect cost, quality or schedule. * Understand the cost drivers behind the components and communicate them to the designers either directly or through the New Product Development Buyer/Planner (NPDBP) for assigned commodities. * Understand how price changes on individual components affect the company at the net profit level. Price increases that have a significant effect on net profits will be tracked and all avenues will be taken to reduce the negative effect. * Understand and track market conditions that affect cost. Work to mitigate any cost increases and seek cost reductions when appropriate based on market conditions for assigned commodities. * Responsible for negotiating global pricing and understand how their commodities are used both for QSC manufacturing as well as QSC supply partners. * Negotiate and place purchase orders as required for assigned materials on behalf of QSC and follow-up with respective suppliers to ensure on time delivery. * Manage all purchase orders in order to provide assurance of compatibility with all applicable purchasing policies and practices including notifying suppliers in writing of any breaches or closures. * Responsible for ensuring all suppliers have the proper revisions of documents. * Review, evaluate and provide an analysis on all supplier quotations to make the most appropriate decision. * Develop new sources of supply in order to sustain competitive supplier bidding. * Support internal customers by placing orders in an expedient fashion and following up to ensure timely delivery for persons in other departments as required. * Support the Company policy of proper inventory levels by ensuring proper scheduling of all production materials. Work with suppliers to coordinate schedules and prevent stock-outs, shortages and over supply * Convey supplied monthly forecast requirements to suppliers for long term supplier visibility planning. * Evaluate new designs to determine best source of supply. Provide feedback as to ways to optimize cost and schedule. * Follow QSC's ETHICS POLICY and be a leader and an example for others by working in the most honorable and ethical manner. * Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications * Bachelor's degree and/or a minimum of 5-10 years buyer experience * Must be proficient in ERP systems * Oracle 11i or R12 experience a BIG plus * Must be proficient MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc. * Materials Management skills and capabilities * Self-motivated individual with good interpersonal skills * Well developed oral and written communication skills a must * Need experience in a materials intense, fast paced, dynamic environment * Work independently with minimal supervision * Must be a team player and work well in a cross-functional team environment * Be able to manage a heavy workload with multiple commodities QSC Costa Mesa CA
