Description:

Under direction of Focus Factory Manager or Sr. Buyer/Planner, the intern is responsible for planning work orders and managing the Supply Chain/Material Control system in support of a designated Production Team.

PRIMARY DUTIES:

  • Control and monitor customer and manufacturing order to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction, favorable cost savings and increased inventory turns

  • Working with Focus Factory Manager to be responsible and accountable for the daily management of the material control system for the designated Production Team and your assigned commodities

  • Coordinate production schedule and cell demand schedule with Production Supervisors

  • Manage daily interaction with suppliers to achieve a high level of on time delivery performance

  • Drive quality and productivity (team effectiveness and efficiency) improvements using DBS principles

  • Act as change agent to implement constant state of improvement by doing things differently

  • Drive correct part plan and increase number of parts on visual replenishment

  • Improve on time performance for the designated Production Team through the proactive management of supplier deliveries

  • Track root causes for on time delivery and suggest and implement appropriate corrective actions

  • Provide delivery dates for overdue customer orders

  • Improve inventory turns for designated Production Team

  • Implement and resize OEM Kanbans as required

  • Assist in the development of new Order Management Process that supports the future state

Qualifications:

  • Pursuing a Bachelors or Masters degree in Business, Supply Chain, or other relevant field at an accredited college or university

  • At least a Junior with a 3.0 grade point average in major

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work within a team

  • Good organizational and problem solving skills

  • Leadership experience in school or community

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office

VIEW JOBS 9/19/2018 12:00:00 AM 2018-12-18T00:00 The Manufacturing Engineer intern/co-op will be assigned to the Manufacturing Engineering team and assist with daily and project-based work, including but not limited to, supporting new product introductions, developing and maintaining standard operating procedures, participating in kaizen events, and designing and building test fixtures. * Troubleshoot assembly and test issues and perform failure analysis for existing and new products. * Develop manufacturing processes and write assembly and test procedures. * Participate in pilot runs for new product introduction. * Help analyze performance of assembly operations in relation to; design specifications, cycle time, and test objectives, and modify or adjust equipment to meet specifications. * Assist with DOEs, MSAs, and Root Cause Analysis to improve existing product yields. * Interpret engineering prints, sketches, and verbal communications in the efforts to build engineering and production prototypes. * Perform testing as required by engineering or manufacturing and document results. * Mark up engineering prints and advise engineering in discrepancies during engineering and/or manufacturing prototyping/build activities. * Assist with special projects as needed. Minimum Qualifications * Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing/Industrial Engineering or related technical field at an accredited college or university * 3.0 grade point average in major * Sophomore status or completion of at least 60 credit hours * Strong communication skills and the ability to work within a team * Good organizational and problem solving skills * Experience leading people or projects * Leadership experience in school or community * Effective interpersonal skills * Familiarity with Microsoft Office Desired Qualifications * Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance & design for manufacturing * Basic statistical analysis understanding Fortive Plainville CT
