What You'll Do

The Buyer will provide sourcing leadership in the procurement of direct and indirect materials for the Niagara Falls, NY Plant. This person will be responsible for coordinating all purchases at the most favorable costs and terms consistent with quality and delivery requirements. The Buyer will report into the Strategic Sourcing Director.

• Negotiate with suppliers on price, availability, service, and quality to ensure maximum benefit to Washington Mills

• Support new product introductions, evaluate the existing and potential supply base for lowest total cost, highest quality, and superior performance

• Identify and maintain suppliers that provide high quality products and services at the best value while maintaining the highest code of ethics and conduct

• Coordinate in-depth surveys of all possible sources of supply

• Prepare and review contracts, bids, proposals, and vendor agreements

• Review purchase requisitions, prepare and issue purchase orders

• Negotiate or supervise the negotiation of requests for equipment, supplies and services from suppliers and subcontractors

• Prepare periodic reports for management pertinent to dollar volume of purchases or for recommending new or alternate sources of supply

• Interact with Plant Personnel regarding purchases of product/supply and make recommendations to management on large volume purchases or high dollar value purchases

• Provide feedback to vendors on performance of product/service

What You'll Need

To be successful in this position, you must:

• Possess a bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management or equivalent

• Have 5 plus years of experience in purchasing, sourcing, and vendor management, preferably in a manufacturing environment

• Be knowledgeable in the principles and practices of public purchasing, including competitive bidding practices

• Have the ability to effectively communicate and present information and responses both verbally and written to internal and external customers

• Possess excellent time management and organizational skills, and be able to work in a cross functional team environment

• Have experience with an ERP/MRP system, IFS preferred, and be proficient in MS Office, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
