Job Summary: This position is responsible for order placement, pricing negotiations and processing purchase orders for hospital supplies and equipment along with a variety of administrative duties to support the Supply Chain Department.
Working knowledge of contracting concepts. Researches and identifies qualified suppliers. Prepares cost comparison of new and/or changing products Insures adherence to all purchasing policies and procedures.
Assists in coordinating trials and evaluations. Monitors contract performance, expedites on time deliveries and ensures accuracy of deliverables. Resolves invoice discrepancies.
Assisting in database management and associated files. Conducts training of hospital staff in Database Inventory Module. Participates in Committee Meetings.
Provides as needed position coverage for the Sr. Buyer and Purchasing Assistant. Acts as a resource to staff and provides orientation of new staff.
Assists the Director of Supply Chain and provides coverage in other areas in Supply Chain as directed. Assist in achieving departmental goal savings.
Reports to: Team Leader/ Purchasing Supply Chain
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum of two (2) years' experience in a purchasing environment. Experience with Medical/Surgical supplies, equipment and contracts desired.
Associates degree preferred.
Experience with negotiations, requests for proposals experience in computerized inventory and distribution systems.
