About Rotoflow, an Air Products Business:
Over the past 69 years, Air Products has designed and manufactured both standard and custom precision-engineered cryogenic and warm gas centrifugal turbomachinery used for refrigeration and power recovery in air separation, natural gas production, and other related market segments. Existing designs range from 2 kW to 12 MW, up to 97 barg, -268 C to + 260 C, and speeds up to 100,000 rpm. Standard products include compressor loaded turbo-expanders, generator-loaded power recovery expanders, and low-cost dissipative expanders. Air Products also offers global aftermarket support including on-site service, spares, repairs, and upgrades.
Job Description and Qualifications:
The Buyer within the Rotoflow business will be accountable for operational procurement and sourcing strategies for materials and services required to supply precision-engineered equipment.
The Buyer will lead the procurement process for all materials and services for Rotoflow, including castings, complicated machined parts, high-value services, lubrication systems, custom-designed gearboxes, bearings, and related materials. The Buyer interfaces and works with engineering, design, scheduling, manufacturing, and suppliers to ensure customer expectations are met. Team members, customers, and suppliers are global. The work environment is dynamic with a broad mix of commercial and technical challenges. There is a strong continuous improvement focus to the role ideal for candidates looking to make a direct impact to the competitiveness of Air Products turbomachinery offerings.
The incumbent is required to have a clear working knowledge of the supply competitiveness drivers, key suppliers in the market, and supply marketplace dynamics. This position plays a critical supplier relationship management role to ensure alignment with business strategies. The position will typically interface at senior management levels within the supplier's organization to represent Air Products' interests.
The ideal candidate should have a demonstrated record of leadership, influencing skills, financial and business acumen, and excellent organization and time management skills. The Buyer will need to have the knowledge, experience, and ability to employ the appropriate influence strategies with business stakeholders to meet the objectives. Strong procurement, organizational, written, and negotiating skills are required. Ability to effectively communicate technical and non-technical information, across cultures and organizations is a key success factor.
Position Location: Houston, TX and Trexlertown, PA

Develop strategies and lead the commercial contracting negotiations and implementation for assigned categories consistent with business requirements
Monitor, communicate, and respond to changing market conditions and business drivers on a global basis to maximize leverage and minimize risk.
Lead cross-functional teams involved in supplier discovery, supplier qualification, and supplier development.
Work closely with supported businesses to ensure stability and cost effectiveness of supply.
Manage supplier performance and maintain interface at senior levels of supplier organizations.
Serve as Single point of contact with designated suppliers for commercial issues (past due invoices, etc)
Act as technical liaison between Gardner / Rotoflow engineers and suppliers
Provide price and lead time information to Estimating and Project teams
Lead supplier feedback process for delivery and quality metrics
Drive Continuous Improvement with suppliers
Prepare Requests for Quotation and solicit competitive bids from qualified sources; Prepare tabulation of bids for management approval
Place purchase orders in SAP, and manage PO lifecycle including confirmations, invoicing, discrepancies, invoicing, and problem resolution
Cross training with buying team on different commodity groups
Support emergency needs as required
Ability to represent Air Products and Rotoflow in a positive, competent and professional manner to our suppliers

BS/BA Degree in Business or related field
Strong mechanical aptitude, ability to understand technical concepts
Competency in using the Microsoft Office Suite of products
Travel required to suppliers, plants, and customers as needed
Experience with SAP or other ERP systems
