What you will do:

Coordinate the procurement and distribution of materials, parts, equipment, and supplies for the organization, providing an effective level of service to support plant operations for our internal and external customers by maintaining an accurate inventory of spare parts, materials, and shipping and receiving tasks.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Orders optimal supplies from suppliers who can provide quality products and services at the lowest cost and with the best delivery time.

  • Oversees all orders placed on a monthly period. Contact suppliers and renegotiate POs as needed to maintain supply needs.

  • Coordinate appropriate methods needed to distribute products in a cost-effective manner.

  • Negotiating with current suppliers and getting quotes for the required materials, prepares comparative analysis, selects the best value-added benefit, in reference to price, quality, and delivery time.

  • Research and interviews potential suppliers to determine if they meet the specified requirements. Uses research to suggest new suppliers to management.

  • Prepares, reviews, and approves orders and manages physical order files for accurate record management.

  • Provides status information for all POs, price changes and acts as liaison between company and suppliers.

  • Processes returns for incorrect material or low-quality material returns, duplicates orders or warranty enhancement as needed.

  • Following up on imports to get vendor invoices and certificates of origin as needed.

  • Provides on-going supervision on orders placed.

  • Maintains timely control of orders, amendments, shipping notices, and other documents to assure accurate retention of records.

  • Manages MRP Min/Max in SAP, maintaining optimal stock levels in all our warehouses under the district, and potential support to other districts.

  • Ability to review and reconcile and follow up on monthly invoices statements, providing information to suppliers on their payment status, resolve issues with statement accuracy.

  • Establishes a good working relationship with internal customers, such as fleet maintenance, plant maintenance, plant and area managers, as well as office personnel, communicating proactively to fulfill their needs and requests in a timely manner.

  • Responsible for receiving, inspecting, labeling, storage and issue of parts, materials and equipment.

  • Keep materials, equipment and spare parts storage areas neat and clean for better tracking and to support the performance of the Procurement department and 5S projects.

  • Ability to learn and understand bar code scanners, and their use in Procurement functions

  • Manages Inventory analyzing potential obsolescence and overstock

  • Ensures required changes/corrections to inventory descriptions and locations.

  • Plans, conducts, and tracks cycle counts and annual physical inventories.

  • Tracks incoming and outgoing consignment materials and prepares consumption reports for supplier billing and replenishment.

  • Provides Accounting with accurate and current information as requested for auditing purposes and ensures that documentation meets all current physical requirements.

  • Tracks incoming and outgoing spare parts, material and equipment. Interacts with users and suppliers. Verifies incoming and outgoing shipments, handling and disposition of materials, and keeping.

  • Provides guidance, direction to internal and external customers for storeroom operation and coordinates storeroom activities as required.

  • Assisting others in Procurement, when needed, with responsibilities not outlined in normal Buyer duties

  • Travel, when necessary, to other GCC locations, in Iowa and in other locations out of the state

Experience and abilities, you will need:

Education- Bachelor's degree

Knowledge/Skills Required:

  • Associate degree or five years' experience in inventory management.

  • Knowledge of industrial materials, spare parts and equipment inventory.

  • Experience, one year, using MM Module in SAP

  • Experience, one year, performing material movements in SAP and MRP Management

Desired:

  • Associate degree in Inventory Management

  • Knowledge of accounting concepts such as debits, credits, inventory adjustments.

  • Experience, one year, using coupa.

  • Knowledge of Procurement Processes (ex. requisitions, purchase orders, goods receipts)

  • Knowledge and understanding of consignment, VMI, or other types of supply agreements.

Additional Required Competencies:

  • Proficient in MS Teams, Power Point, Excel and Word software.

  • Understanding of Order Processing Systems (SAP preferred)

  • Skill in operating forklift.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills including providing presentations to a variety of groups

  • Ability to read and interpret documents, write routine reports and correspondence.

  • Ability to negotiate with vendors and provide concise, accurate information.

  • Adaptable to changes in processes and responsibilities.

  • Safety equipment and chemical handling knowledge.

  • Negotiation skills
