Plymouth Tube is looking for an enthusiastic, ambitious team member to join our Supply Chain team. This person must embrace change, be self-motivated, and inspire others inside and outside the department. The individual should be able to communicate directly and openly with all levels in our organization. There will be many opportunities for the successful candidate to engage their innovative and creative problem-solving skills to help move the department to the next level. It is a must that the Site Buyer has a high degree of personal integrity in dealing with customers, superiors, subordinates, and co-workers and will represent Plymouth Tube Company in a professional manner. The successful candidate will live both in the big picture as well as in the details, desire to make an impact, and work well in a team and individually.

ABOUT THE JOB:

The Site Buyer is the first level approver of all Purchase Orders for a determined set of production mills and strategic indirect categories for Plymouth Tube. The Site Buyer receives requisitions from operations, engineering, and safety and ensures the correct part is ordered, the correct vendor is selected, and Plymouth receives the best total cost of the material. The site buyer assists the requisitioner in fully specifying the material requirements for a purchase order. The Site Buyer ensures corporate agreements are followed and if there is no contract set for an item, sources that item from potential vendors. The site buyer follows up on past due item receipts (both with receiving and the vendor if necessary), following up with vendors if there are potential delivery delays. The Site Buyer recommends site and company purchasing strategies based on spend and vendor analysis.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

Core Responsibilities

  • Adhere to and model all site and corporate Safety, Environmental, and Regulatory requirements.

  • You will be the first level approver for POs for requisitions entered by their assigned requisitioners.

  • You'll works with requisitioners to obtain the required specifications to properly source required items.

  • As the buyer you'll own sourcing for assigned sites and categories. If an item is not under a corporate purchase agreement, the buyer sources that item at the lowest cost that meets end user needs.

  • You'll recommend purchasing strategies and opportunities to the Strategic Sourcing Manager.

  • You will work with site vendors to insure stocked item inventories are maintained.

  • You'll escalate and resolve received material quality issues with vendors.

  • You will own the relationship with site vendors. Also meet regularly with site vendors to explore opportunities for further contract/item enhancements.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

  • Desired: Bachelor's Degree in supply chain management or Business Management plus 1+ year of plant buying experience

-OR-

3+ years experience as a site buyer with proven and documented success in lieu of a degree

Additional Requirements

  • ERP System experience a plus

  • Ability to work within and experience with MRP and Shop floor Control Systems

  • Proficiency with MS Office applications (i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook, advanced Excel)

  • Demonstrates proficiency in use of a computer and various programs-including Microsoft Excel.

  • Understands how to document goals and deviations from these goals on a regular basis.

  • Acts as a liaison between vendors, customers, laborers and other departments within the company.

  • Works efficiently under pressure and helps motivate employees to meet demands.
