Buyer Planner I

About This Role:

Under direct supervision, the Buyer Planner I is responsible for planning the detailed daily production and monitoring all component requirements for assigned product lines.

Essential Job Functions/Tasks:

• Reviews the weekly production build rates and open customer orders. Develops proactive production schedules based on target finished goods inventory levels and the current build plan.

• Prepares detailed component schedules for assigned products. Works directly with suppliers to ensure that supply matches demand. Enters Production Purchase Orders in a timely manner. Monitors delivery status and expedites orders when necessary. Resolves component quality issues and material rejections and replacements as required.

• Works directly with Customer Service to ensure the coverage of open orders. Monitors, processes, and communicates backorder releases with all appropriate departments. Addresses customer inquiries and changes to customer orders in a prompt and professional manner.

• Monitors inventories, parts deliveries, and parts shortages for all planned orders. Works with Purchasing and Molding to coordinate acquisition of components.

• Identifies improvement opportunities in Production Planning and develops and recommends programs to improve overall production efficiencies. Promptly communicates information when schedules change, and proactively suggests and administers recovery plans.

• Reviews monthly production targets and prepares monthly summary reports.

Education/Training Required and Preferred:

• Associate Degree or equivalent.

Experience Required and Preferred:

• Minimum one year of experience in a manufacturing environment.

• Strong organizational and time management skills.

• Strong attention to detail. Ability to work with accuracy and to prioritize multiple tasks.

• Knowledge of computers and computer systems to enter data and process information.

• Knowledge of supply chain management practices for products and commodities preferred.
