The Buyer's primary purposes are purchasing, negotiation, establishing and maintaining relationships with suppliers, and utilizing their expertise to provide forecasts and tracking in support of the Purchasing department and Company needs.

  • Execute and generate purchase orders based on approved requisitions, requests for proposals, bids, stock levels, and other similar and necessary documents related to the purchasing of metal, raw materials, and commodities

  • Lead negotiations and apply knowledge of commercial contract law and guidelines, practices and requirements to assess, plan, and negotiate best terms and conditions, and minimize risk

  • Resolve issues (e.g. pricing, quality, timing, claims, contract disputes, etc.) associated with terms and conditions of supply and service agreements

  • Responsible as primary contact between assigned suppliers

  • Establish and maintain sound professional relationships with suppliers

  • Communicate supplier performance and supplier visits as required

  • Facilitate and manage all supplier issues (i.e. cost, quality, delivery, customer service)

  • Initiate and follow through on all supplier changes (Engineering Change Notices)

  • Understand demand and spend profile for commodity areas, and provide this information as necessary

  • Analyze and forecast requirements for materials and communicate to leadership on regular basis

  • Track and report cost savings, or avoidance

  • Maintain current, accurate records and files of all vendor agreements, and related procurement records

  • Support, communicate, and defend the policies, values, and culture of the company

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in Business, Procurement or related field, or equivalent years of

education and/or experience

  • Ability to understand and adhere to all company policies pertaining to procurement,

contracts, or breach by contract

  • Strong negotiating skills and proven success record

  • Strong knowledge and experience of price and cost analysis with advanced Excel, and

database background

  • Strong analytical mindset and outstanding organizational skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills

  • Exhibits proactive attitude and strong work ethic

  • Possess capability to manage and prioritize multiple requests

  • Must have strong focus on accuracy, attention to details, customer service, and

maintaining high standards of integrity
