Procure a variety of materials, goods, and services essential to support the manufacturing organization's operating needs whereby adhering to suppliers qualified by the sourcing team. Ensuring optimum balance between cost, quality, delivery, and vendor performance as per the source list.
Interfaces with both design engineering and manufacturing engineering to resolve specification issues as well as outsourcing potential to relieve internal capacity constraints.
Manage all aspects of purchasing and planning SAP master data.
Assure vendor compliance with 1) quantity, 2) specifications, 3) quality, 4) delivery and 5) price, by negotiating to improve the Company's position and by monitoring and following-up the transaction. Negotiates settlements on rejected or defective items.
Assure good vendor relationships, willingness to cooperate in case of emergencies and continuous flow of pertinent data and advice by establishing and maintaining open lines of communication with qualified vendors.
Report on vendor exceptions to include quality, price, and delivery.
Procure items consistent with specifications, in a timely manner as required via ERP system as well as operational requirements.
Prepare and issue quotation requests, conduct price analysis and communicate delivery schedules in order to prepare for annual quantity agreements.
Communicate with internal customers to provide information necessary for planning manufacturing orders.
Maintain files to support procurement actions to include annual consumption, lead time, reorder point strategy and pricing.
Identifies overstock items and looks for ways to reduce quantities that are beneficial to the company.
Buyer must also possess skills in both written and oral communications to clarify, disseminate and interpret purchase requirements to suppliers. Bachelor Degree or equal business experience. Strong analytical, quantitative, problem solving, and technical skills Strong business acumen within the guidelines of Oerlikon mission statement. Understands and observes all safety procedures and practices in order to prevent injury to self or co-workers.
