The production buyer at McElroy Manufacturing works with various areas and levels of the company to support the production schedule in order to achieve company objectives for customer service, inventory levels, cost, and quality.
Primary Duties Include:
Supplier relationship management
Problem solving
Specifically:
Maximizing vendor performance to meet or exceed company objectives with regards to On Time Delivery, Quality, Inventory Levels, and Cost.
Understanding and providing input necessary to manage the requirements associated with assigned parts.
Coordinating execution of the master schedule pertaining to assigned material.
Identifying, communicating, and mitigating obstacles to meeting schedule with necessary stakeholders.
Working with suppliers to understand and communicate needs and ensure that data within planning systems accurately reflect expectations.
Skills & Qualifications:
Critical skills that must be demonstrated for consideration and ultimately required to succeed in the role:
Must have a working knowledge of methods and principles of supply chain design that will enable McElroy's suppliers to deliver on time, with quality components, and at the lowest total cost of ownership
The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate and further expand on critical thinking and creative problem solving in detail regarding past supply chain projects and describe the extent of their involvement
Basic skills for this role include, understanding a bill of materials, ability to read engineered prints, understand non-conformance processes, understand relations of shipping documents, invoice, and purchase order.
Related Considerations:
Bachelor Degree in related field
5+ years' experience in Purchasing preferred
APICS or ISM participation and certifications preferred
Proficient in mathematics and statistics related to business applications
Knowledge of manufacturing terminology and industry practices such as Manufacturing Resources Planning, Theory of Constraints, and Lean Manufacturing
Experience with equipment and tooling used in the fabrication of metal parts and ability to interpret blueprints
Proficient in business application and manufacturing software
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Outlook required
Infor XA experience preferred
Flexibility to accommodate varying workload requirements
Physical Job Requirements
Must be able to routinely work sitting at a computer workstation 80% of normal workday.
Balance of workday may require bending, squatting, and lifting.
Mobility required between multi-building complex covering several acres.
